Zhu Xiaoning is a renowned assassin, the kind everyone in the trade knows. The orders requesting his services could fill the entire warehouse at the Zanghua Pavilion.
But he has principles. His master taught him to kill only those who deserve to die.
Zhu Xiaoning is socially anxious, but he's also very polite. He thinks you ought to send a calling card before entering someone else's home.
So before each job, he secretly sends the target what he calls a calling card, but what is really a death notice.
The notice is simple:
"Hello. May I kill you?"
Whether the target welcomes him is another matter entirely.
Hardworking Zhu Xiaoning soon received a particularly challenging assignment.
Assassinate the tyrannical, lawless, utterly wicked, heinous, murderous, despicable, blood-soaked... Regent.
Feeling the weight of his responsibility, he prepared carefully for many days before sending his calling card.
He steeled himself, pushed open the door, and found not the legendary obese, ugly, pig-faced, beaky, green-faced, tusked, loathsome Regent.
Instead, he saw a beauty with a bright smile and a pale face, coughing up blood from time to time, looking utterly frail and helpless.
Zhu Xiaoning froze. Zhu Xiaoning couldn't believe it. Why would a beauty do so many evil things?
He nearly let his looks distract him, but after much deliberation, he resolved to rid the people of this menace.
But why was the beauty even better at fighting than he was?
For the first time, Zhu Xiaoning tasted defeat.
His master told him he could give up the assignment after hearing what happened, but he refused to let it go. He had to save face... no, he had to rid the people of this menace!
So he began chasing the beauty from place to place, refusing to listen to anyone who tried to talk him out of it.

Yan Yun had only taken the assassination order on a whim, since no one else dared accept it. He never expected that, just moments apart, he'd run into the most useful assassin in his own pavilion on the same job.
After easily taking care of the target, he sat down for a cup of tea, only to find the legendary death notice waiting for him.
With nothing better to do, he decided to see whether the man's reputation was all hype or well deserved.
He never expected the supposedly single-minded boy to be quite so single-minded. He didn't recognize Yan Yun, and even mistook him for that fat, ugly old fool.
Defeated again and again, he kept coming back for more.
They chased and fought their way along, until in the end, the boy ran straight into his heart.
So here's the question: how could Yan Yun discreetly tell this stubborn boy that he wasn't his target, but someone he'd like to do something else with?
1v1, both pure and devoted
Xiaoning is just the name he uses as an assassin, not his real name. I'll change it later. I haven't settled on the names of both leads yet.
The gong only looks sickly. He's actually bigger than the shou! And he's stronger, too! I will always support a strong gong!
The gong and shou are both adults when they fall in love!
Neither of them is a lawbreaker or a bad person. They both have respectable jobs, which I'll explain later.
An imaginary dynasty, with a whole lot of made-up stuff.
