My lover was an obscure squad leader. Later, he died in battle during the third war with the Nanyao Kingdom.
All his life, he had wished to end the wars so that there would be no more refugees or people starving to death. I wanted to carry on his wish, so I studied hard, pursued knowledge, and delved into the art of war. At last, I became an envoy to the Lord of our kingdom.

I didn't dare cause trouble and sour relations between our two kingdoms, but I was furious. I jumped out of bed and snapped that I was unworthy.
By noon that day, a royal decree had been delivered to me. I had become the Nanyao King's male consort.
I trembled with rage, forgetting all about my lover. I nearly drew my sword and killed the Nanyao King once and for all. Then, while they were in disarray, our Great Yue Kingdom could unite their lands with ours.
The more I thought it over, the more feasible the plan seemed.
So I began making preparations...
