In the original story, the Dragon-Prince especially hated Shen, the girl he'd been betrothed to as a child, because she was his humiliation.
The favored son of Heaven, blessed with an immortal spirit root, was hailed by the cultivation world as a once-in-a-thousand-years genius. The great sects fought to recruit him.
When he was twenty, he and the head of the Shen family were attacked by a demonic beast. He stepped in to shield the family head, suffering severe injuries that damaged his foundation and left him unable to advance further in cultivation. Seeing that he was no longer useful, the head of the Shen family broke off the childhood engagement with the flimsy excuse that his son had someone he loved.
The head of the Shen family and his wife feared the Dragon-Prince would take revenge on them. They even had him blacklisted, leaving him with nowhere to go in the cultivation world.
Later, the Dragon-Prince found a way to restore his spirit root and secretly resumed cultivating.
With the help of a beautiful, adorable little demon cultivator, ten years later he stormed back to the Mystic Immortal Sect, where the Shen family lived, and slaughtered everyone there. First, he killed the beloved wife of the Shen family head, then his son, and finally personally slew the family head.
A head fell, and blood covered the ground.
From then on, the Dragon-Prince became the undisputed villainous protagonist, killing anyone he met and cutting down every immortal in his way. He reached the peak and ascended to the immortal realm.
The shou silently closed the virtual interface and looked at the seventeen-year-old Dragon, who was happily eating in front of him. He sighed. "Slow down. There's no need to rush."
"A-Xiang, your cooking is so good," the Dragon said, his eyes shining and his face beaming.
The shou handed A-Long a plate of beef and vegetables. "A-Long, just make being a foodie your goal for the future. Don't pick up those bad habits, like killing people. That's really not good."
A-Long looked bewildered. "A-Xiang, why would you think I'd become that kind of heinous demon? I won't."
The shou silently lowered his head and drank some water. Who knew?

The shou said to Shen's father, "Dad, sometimes you shouldn't be so cold-blooded."
Shen's father disagreed. "Child, your father cultivates the Path of Ruthlessness. How could I not be ruthless?"
The shou choked for a moment, then said, "You gave up ruthlessness for Mom."
Shen's father asked, puzzled, "But after getting together with your mother, I cultivated the sword path."
The shou was silent for a few seconds, searching for an excuse. "I've seen what happens to people who plot against others. What goes around comes around, and we'll get our own revenge in return."
Shen's father looked innocent. "Kiddo, have I plotted against anyone?"
The shou silently thought to himself: Later, you'll plot against that Dragon, and then he'll storm back to our sect and slaughter us all.
