What's Wrong with Having a Weak Spirit?

Shen Qingyi is often mistaken for a Guide. He looks a little weak and is indeed quite attractive, but his spiritual form is nothing to write home about. He is also said to have been widowed at a young age, and to have a very unpleasant personality.

But Shen Qingyi is a Sentinel, a genuine Sentinel. His spiritual form really is rather pitifully weak: a little calico cat, adorable and beautiful, but all claws and teeth. It often gets bullied badly.

No one thought much of Shen Qingyi's spiritual form, so in the end, he could only be assigned a partner. Unexpectedly, he was matched and married to the Federation's strongest new-generation Guide, whose spiritual form was an octopus.

Shen Qingyi was actually a little afraid of soft-bodied animals, but Xu Shiyue was very gentle.

Embarrassed, he thought, This is the Guide I'll spend the rest of my life with. He met Xu Shiyue's smiling eyes, which somehow seemed a little dangerous.

For a moment, Shen Qingyi didn't dare lose his temper. He held back his displeasure and obediently greeted him, then reluctantly and carefully shook the octopus's tentacle as a greeting.

Meanwhile, the octopus's tentacles wrapped tightly around his little calico cat. The other man seemed to like his spiritual form very much.

Shen Qingyi's circumstances were indeed rather pitiful, he thought. They were worlds apart. He was a widower and already getting on in years, yet he'd been matched with such a capable Guide. It was like winning the lottery.

Shen Qingyi's face, which was usually hopeless at reading the room, flushed a little. The damp sensation seemed to coil around him, making him feel as if he were right there. When he met Xu Shiyue's gaze, he was forced to look away in an instant, as if Xu Shiyue were touching him.

But his seemingly respectable Guide made a rather explicit suggestion: "Would you like my help when you go into heat?"

Just as the rumors said, Shen Qingyi was quite skilled in matters of the heart, and Xu Shiyue was no ordinary man, either.

Shen Qingyi was a little surprised.

Xu Shiyue slowly withdrew his gaze. "Since you're my Sentinel now, should you fulfill your duty as one?"

Before Shen Qingyi's brain could catch up, he realized that the other man's hand had somehow slipped onto his belt.
