Main plot / Nonhuman love interest
I wish everyone in the world would disappear.
Qiao Ling, who had nearly worked himself to death from overtime, made this simple wish before going to sleep.
At six thirty the next morning, Qiao Ling woke up without the neighbor's child crying for once.
He was still marveling at the rare, peaceful morning when he headed out to work and found the usually crowded bus stop completely empty.
The entire world was terrifyingly quiet.
Where had everyone gone?
Heavens, why wasn't my wish to get rich this effective?
What did it mean for everyone in the world to disappear?
Modern society ground to a halt, and human civilization came to an end.
Worse still, cities without anyone to maintain them were rapidly crumbling, while rampant mutant plants spread like a tide, steadily squeezing Qiao Ling's living space.
As Qiao Ling chewed on a compressed biscuit with a mouthful of cold water, wondering what to do next, a cold mechanical voice suddenly sounded in his mind.
"Unique surviving human detected. System binding in progress..."
"Initial mission: Find a safe water source within 24 hours."
"Reward: Basic water purifier."
Qiao Ling bolted into the bathroom and frantically twisted the faucet. The metal pipes let out a hollow groan.
After humanity vanished, the water and power systems were the first to fail...

In a certain apocalyptic world, a man stared at the System panel, his fingertips turning white.
"A basic water purifier in exchange for one liter of clean water?"
His throat, long scorched by toxins, struggled to swallow. Could a device even a child could make really get him clean water?
Reason told him it was impossible, but... what if?
In a certain interstellar world, a cyborg stared at the two cabbages he had received, holding his breath.
Their leaves were a vivid green, dotted with droplets. The scan showed they were natural vegetables, untouched by genetic contamination.
His beat-up mech had gotten him such a treasure?
On Blue Star, Qiao Ling stared at a five-meter-tall steel giant in silence.
"Didn't I buy an automated farming machine?"
The mech's sleek design was completely out of place in the fields.
But looking out over the endless farmland, he still raised the instruction manual.
"Forget it. As long as it works."
It wasn't until he opened the "fertilizer" packaging and saw a flashy advertisement promising an enormous harvest that he finally couldn't take it anymore.
"System, could you tone down the product descriptions? How about following the advertising laws? I could promise an absurd harvest too!"
In a certain fluffy world, a group of puffballs gathered around some steel, marveling.
"It's so pure!"
"A miracle!"
"Does that being... really only want our droppings?"
"The thoughts of the divine are simply beyond our understanding."
