My Savior Became a Widow

Meng Zhi was known throughout the village as a great beauty, but unfortunately, she was already married.

Her husband was a dull, unremarkable man. Orphaned young, he treated her very well.

Then one day, her husband rescued a man and brought him home. She was furious, but there was nothing she could do. The man was already in the house, and there was no getting rid of him.

The man they'd taken in was extremely handsome and kind. He seemed grateful, too. Meng Zhi thought that once he'd recovered from his injuries, she'd make sure to get some money out of him.

But before they could send the man on his way, her husband died outside the village, and Meng Zhi became a widow overnight.

The man asked if she would go home with him.

Meng Zhi looked at him through tear-filled eyes, then finally nodded.

Xiao Mingzhuo was born into a noble clan. By the time he was a young man, he had already made a name for himself. One day, he was ambushed and nearly lost his life.

The woman who cared for him was an ignorant village woman, with nothing but her beauty to recommend her. She was vulgar, foolish, greedy, and mercenary.

But later, she became a widow.

He only brought her home out of pity for an ignorant woman. That was all.

The widow began appearing in his dreams for no reason. Xiao Mingzhuo remembered the strange noises that had come from the room next door on those countless nights.

If only he could have her, everything would be fine. But gradually, Xiao Mingzhuo found himself unable to settle for that.

After all, that man was dead. He might as well take his place.
