Undying Star [Apocalypse]

My next novel will be "After Making a Pact with a Fallen Noble", a fantasy story with supernatural powers and a conspiracy between two stars. It features a battle-hardened girl and a fallen noble, with more emphasis on romance than this one.

"I. Secrets"

Lou Yiran has two secrets she’s kept buried for years.

The first is that when she was twelve, she accidentally knocked over the reagents on her father’s lab bench. From that day on, she gained a power like a curse.

The second is

In the spring of the year she turned seventeen, she met a man with a scar on his face.

He appeared during the most confusing period of her life. They fed cats, climbed mountains, and watched the sunset together... The last time they met, he told her he would wait for her in the “future.”

A year later, Lou Yiran met Lu Xiaochuan at the welcome plaza.

Lu Xiaochuan looked a lot like that man, except he had no scar. When their eyes met, Lou Yiran realized he didn’t know her.

She decided to keep her distance from Lu Xiaochuan, hide her power, finish her studies, and wait for the “future” the man had promised.

That was until the day a fire raged and the mutants awakened. Lu Xiaochuan pushed through the crowd moving in the opposite direction, came to her, and asked if she wanted to leave with him.

From that day on,

the power Lou Yiran had once thought a curse seemed to become a gift.

"II. The Apocalypse"

The apocalypse began on the day of an alumni reunion.

A research building in Y City exploded, releasing an unknown virus.

It could not be explained by existing science, yet it could turn people into mindless monsters by feeding on their desires and making them turn against themselves.

Within a few short months, high-rises collapsed and the entire city lost power.

Survivors built high walls, and a shelter system arose. Civilization and order crumbled overnight...

An investigation team tried to reconstruct the truth behind the apocalypse, only to discover that they were missing the most important piece of the puzzle.

Was the explosion an accident, or was it deliberate?

Where did this virus, which could be observed but never reproduced, come from?

Where did the project team members who disappeared after the accident go?

Rainbow light spilled from a fissure beneath a deep chasm.

An unknown energy was slowly but surely changing the world...

And the missing piece the investigation team could never find seemed to point to a stretch of “time” that should never have existed.

It was the third year of the apocalypse.

Lou Yiran, then the external liaison team leader at Shelter No. 38, received an urgent reassignment order.

The new deputy team leader assigned to her by headquarters

was none other than Lu Xiaochuan.

"III. Fate"

Later, Lou Yiran finally understood:

Time is a loop, its beginning meeting its end.

The building would explode again and again,

and the apocalypse would descend again and again.

And all of it

was because, when they met in different timelines,

they both chose to move toward one another.
