Anti-Trafficking Office [Millennium]

Jiang Yao, captain of the female special operations team codenamed "Skylark," died during an operation targeting human traffickers.

When she opened her eyes again, she had become a young policewoman with the same name who had just joined the force in Nanyang City.

At the turn of the millennium, before surveillance cameras were widespread, human trafficking was rampant. Countless women and children were abducted and sold.

Some women were sold to the countryside and became wives to unmarried men.

Some children had their hands and feet broken and were forced to beg on the streets.

People in Nanyang City lived in fear.

With no other choice, the city bureau applied to establish an Anti-Trafficking Office, officially called the Task Force for Combating Crimes of Trafficking in Women and Children.

Everyone at the bureau with connections tried to get into important departments like the criminal investigation division or major crimes unit, where they could solve major cases.

Look for missing children?

Whoever wants to can go.

The department had just been established and was short-staffed.

One was a wily old cop due to retire next year.

One was a hot-tempered giant who threw punches before he said a word.

One had a three-minute personality and was called "a disgrace to the police force."

And then there was Jiang Yao, a pretty, long-legged young policewoman who looked like a mere ornament.

Everyone shook their heads. This Anti-Trafficking Office was sure to be shut down soon.

As one major case after another, old and new, was solved,

everyone cried out in amazement, "Didn't you say they'd be shut down soon?"

They'd won a first-class collective merit award, appeared in the newspaper, and received their awards with big red flowers pinned to their chests!
