The Most Beloved One in a World of Strange Rules

A supernatural crisis erupted across the globe. Rule-based horror scenarios filled with vengeful ghosts appeared at random, and anyone could be dragged into one. Su Mai was no exception.

The good news: Su Mai awakened an ability with an extremely low acquisition rate right at the start.

The bad news: His ability let him see how much the ghosts liked him. It had no other effects whatsoever, and was rated the most useless ability in history.

Fail to clear a horror scenario and you die.

Su Mai, physically weak, unskilled in combat, and with a negative fighting ability: Then I can only make them all fall in love with me.

--Horror scenarios have one unspoken rule: If you raise every ghost's affection to 100, you won't just survive. You can even achieve a perfect clear, causing the scenario to collapse and disappear.

And as it happens, Su Mai is best at making people fall in love with him.

Whether human or ghost, he can pretend to be exactly the kind of person they like and put on a show for them.

[Horror Scenario 1: A Family of Four]

Su Mai is the youngest brother in the family, living with his three older brothers.

The eldest is cold and domineering, the second is a carefree playboy, and the third... The third is dead. His corpse has long since rotted away.

But he's a good big brother. Every night, he comes back to look for Su Mai, keeping his youngest brother company as they play little games of heart-ripping and gut-spilling.

Su Mai: It's not like we can't play something else.

Late at night.

Su Mai changes into a thin set of pajamas, hugs a pillow, and knocks on his second brother's door.

His second brother opens it. Su Mai tugs at his hem, looks up with a pure, pretty face, and asks timidly, "Can I sleep with you, Second Brother?"

His second brother pauses, then silently hides the bloodstained carving knife behind his back and steps aside. "...Sure. Come in."

Later, all three brothers fight over Su Mai, ripping out each other's hearts and guts.

Su Mai remains as sweet and well-behaved as ever: My brothers love me so much, and I love them so much too.

[Horror Scenario 2: Third Psychiatric Hospital]

Third Psychiatric Hospital, a cozy cemetery for patients.

Dedicated to making sure its delicious patients are decapitated, die with their eyes open, and leave no remains behind, providing a cure for mental illness that never fails.

Su Mai, playing a patient: Mental patients can do anything, even math, so it's not strange if I put on a nurse's uniform, right?

Su Mai puts on a modified little nurse's dress. When a creepy patient shows up, he slaps them once. When a vengeful ghost doctor shows up, he slaps them twice. When the director himself shows up, he slaps him ten times.

From the first bed to the director's office, everyone in the hospital is turned into his dog.

Discharged!

As Su Mai eliminates more and more horror scenarios, "It" is drawn to him.

"It" is the embodiment of terror and disaster, the collective will of the supernatural. Every ghost in the horror scenarios is a part of "It."

Originally, "It" had no thoughts, no feelings, and could not communicate. But the ghosts' emotions influenced "It," gradually giving it human thoughts and feelings.

Those intense, dark, obsessive, and frenzied feelings of love spread like a virus, wrapping tightly around "It"...

One day, the virus would destroy "It." "It" should have killed Su Mai...
