Lu Tian thinks Lin Xu might like her.
He's a quiet guy, nearly 190 centimeters tall, with broad shoulders and back. His hair is always curling into little ringlets over his forehead, making him look dependable and nonthreatening. His classmates secretly call him "Fat Bear."
Every night before bed, Lu Tian sees his posts on Moments, little essays full of cute emoji.

All Lu Tian has to do is greet him with a smile, and she'll get the full homework-help treatment. If she sweetly calls him Lin Xu, he'll go red and freeze on the spot. For the next week, he'll fetch water, pick up takeout, and run errands around campus for her. Lu Tian won't have to worry about a thing.
Later, the boys openly tease Lu Tian, calling her a "Bear Wife-to-Be."
Flustered and angry, Lu Tian snaps, "If you like fat guys so much, marry him yourself. I don't like him."
Lin Xu happens to return with ice cream and hears every word.
He lowers his eyes, seeming not to have heard a thing, and hands her the honey-flavored ice cream.
After that, Lin Xu stops talking to Lu Tian altogether. When he comes back after summer break, he's lost nearly thirty pounds. His features are striking, and his figure is tall and graceful as a pine tree.
Just standing there is enough to make everyone unable to look away.
He's become a star in the clouds, a moon reflected in water. Lu Tian naturally won't embarrass herself by approaching him. With a complicated, stubborn feeling she doesn't even understand, she starts flirting with other boys.
Later, Lu Tian is forced to sit on someone's arm, her collar smeared with salty liquid.
He bends down against her neck, his curls brushing her chin, his voice hoarse:
"You still don't like me now that I'm not fat?"
"What do I have to do to make Tian Tian like me a little more?"
