Yet that night, when Ni Chan was alone at an inn and nearly came to harm, he suddenly returned in the middle of the night. Brimming with murderous intent, he swung his sword and killed the man who had tried to hurt her.
The young man's sword tip was stained with blood. He glanced back at her, still shielded behind him, his eyes full of lingering malice, and clicked his tongue. “What a pain.”
