Jin Xian'er was originally called Chen Xian. She was an orphan whom an old Daoist priest found deep in the mountains.
This dilapidated little temple stood on Zhuyou Mountain, in an uninhabited area of Xuanpu City. It had been passed down through countless generations, from the old Daoist's master, to his master's master, to his master's master's master...
Now it was home to the two of them, master and disciple.
The pair had lived a carefree, rustic life on the solitary mountain. But as Chen Xian grew older by the day, the old Daoist began to think he ought to find the child a school, where she could receive a well-rounded education.
After much consideration, he realized that this rural place had very little to offer in the way of education. So he turned his attention to his junior apprentice, a crybaby from the nth generation of the wealthy Jin family.
Three days later, the Jin family arrived with Chen Xian's junior apprentice, whom she had never met before.
Little Xian saw that the boy really was timid. She only had a fox spirit tease him, and he shrieked and wailed so loudly that her face darkened.
The old Daoist agreed to lift the Jin family's young master's curse, but in return, Chen Xian's household registration had to be under the family's name, so she could get into a school in their district.
The Jin family heard the terms and thought, That's all? How could they refuse? They promptly made a call to get the paperwork done, and within days, they had brought Little Xian into the city.
As the old Daoist stood on the mountaintop, tearfully bidding her farewell, he was overjoyed inside. At last, he had sent this little menace off.
From then on, Little Xian's surname on her ID was changed to Jin.
That was why, when she grew up and entered the jianghu, people in the underworld respectfully called her "Daoist Jin." But that's a story for another time.

A long, white-moonlight-style epic, mainly about Little Xian and Silly Bell's adventures catching demons and driving out ghosts. There are many settings to develop in detail, but I'll get around to filling in the story eventually.
Theme: As we search for the meaning of our own existence, do we ever realize that other people can themselves become the meaning?
