The Vampire with an Upright Moral Compass

In modern society, vampires don't spend their days fighting. They obey the law.

Charles is a well-educated vampire who lives like an ordinary citizen, dating an ordinary human boyfriend in a healthy relationship.

Xiao Ni: “Charles”... sounds like a prince's name.

Charles: This character is my surname. It's pronounced “Zha,” as in “scumbag.”

Charles: Of course I'll respect your feelings. If you need someone to talk to, I'll be a good listener. If you need time alone to cool down, I'll order milk tea and make you cheesy creamy turkey noodles while I wait.

Xiao Ni: Oh my god, you're such a morally upstanding ghost. You're so “sunny” and cheerful.

Charles: Darling, that's a kind of dark humor, too.

Xiao Ni: Wait, why is the delivery fee so expensive?

Charles: Choose pickup, babe. I'll teleport over and get it in a bit.

Xiao Ni: I actually kind of want to know what it feels like to be bitten by a vampire.

Charles: I certainly don't mind a little drink now and then, but no offense, babe, have you ever eaten a force-fed duck that's stuck in a cubicle all day and is a little anemic?

Xiao Ni: Get lost! Go find an organic duck that listens to music, gets massages, and roams freely in the woods!

Xiao Ni: How old are you? I'm prepared for you to be immortal, but you can be eight hundred, never eighty!

Charles: What if I'm only eighteen?

Xiao Ni: Like I'd believe a vampire!
