Pretending to Be Straight While My Best Friend Secretly Has a Crush on Me

Chi Yan thinks a guy who likes being the bottom has been flirting with him lately.

This guy is called Wen Jiapeng, a famous sweet little cutie at A University. He's handsome and adorable, and his smile is full of energy.

Wen Jiapeng has a good personality, knows how to act cute, and is always calling Chi Yan "baby" out of habit.

As time goes by, Chi Yan falls for him.

Wen Jiapeng is a minor internet celebrity. Whenever he films a cute hand-dance video, he always sends it to Chi Yan first.

In Chi Yan's eyes, this is another one of Wen Jiapeng's little tricks to seduce him.

In the videos, Wen Jiapeng is always dancing to sweet, sugary songs. His smile is sweet, and the comments and bullet-screen messages all call him "wifey." Chi Yan has even gotten jealous over it.

Chi Yan starts sticking to Wen Jiapeng every day, buying him milk tea, accompanying him shopping and playing video games, and patiently helping him take photos.

Chi Yan thinks he's pursuing Wen Jiapeng, and keeps looking for a chance to confess to him.

In his eyes, Wen Jiapeng is unquestionably a total bottom.

Until one day, Wen Jiapeng posts a video he made with a girl.

And solemnly clarifies in the comments: "I'm straight."

The sky falls in on Chi Yan.

Wen Jiapeng is gay.

He was bullied during adolescence because of his sexual orientation and was left with psychological scars. He plans to pretend to be straight until he graduates from college.

In Wen Jiapeng's eyes, Chi Yan is a really good friend.

Although Chi Yan is tall and handsome, and exactly his type, Wen Jiapeng keeps reminding himself that he absolutely must not fall for Chi Yan.

Until one day, after Wen Jiapeng posts a video online with a good friend and says in the comments that he's straight,

Chi Yan starts acting strangely.

He always looks unhappy and doesn't want to talk to Wen Jiapeng. Whenever he sees him, he scowls and walks away.

Wen Jiapeng has no idea what he did wrong and secretly curses Chi Yan for being so moody.

Later, one night, Chi Yan gets drunk at a bar.

His friend calls Wen Jiapeng and asks him to come take Chi Yan home.

As Wen Jiapeng runs over, worried, Chi Yan suddenly pulls him into his arms. He bends his back slightly, rests his chin on Wen Jiapeng's shoulder, and complains in a pitiful voice:

"How can you be straight? You're straight, yet you flirt with me every day. Why are you so cruel?"

As he speaks, Chi Yan starts sobbing inconsolably outside the bar.

Wen Jiapeng, who has always thought of Chi Yan as a good friend, is stunned:

"...Huh? I'm not, I'm not straight."

Chi Yan has been crying so hard that he's retching, but halfway through a retch, he suddenly stops.
