Su Qiao is a tea farmer from Chaxi Village. He grew up relying on his grandpa, and after his grandpa passed away, he lived alone.
The villagers always say he's slow, but Su Qiao doesn't think so.
One day, on his way to pick tea, he came across a man who had "fainted."
Thinking that saving a life was what mattered, he carried the man home and cared for him for a while. When the man's injuries were nearly healed, Su Qiao asked when he planned to leave.
The man paused, then looked at him plaintively. "You saw me naked when you rescued me. Aren't you going to take responsibility for me?"
Su Qiao: ...
That seemed right, but somehow it also seemed wrong.
Su Qiao: Okay, then.
And that's how he got himself a husband.
Gu Shangci made a name for himself at a young age, but all he wanted was to retire to the countryside. He was so exhausted on the way that he found somewhere to take a nap. Someone mistook him for a badly injured man and took him home.
The first time he opened his eyes and saw Su Qiao, Gu Shangci raised an eyebrow. The kid was pretty cute.
Later: Kind, adorable, and a good cook, too.
Later still: Tsk, I want to marry him.
But to bring this cabbage home, he first had to chase off the pigs gathered around it! So he put his tea-flavored charm to work and finally succeeded in marrying his husband.
Picking tea in the gardens in spring, catching fish in the summer floods, gathering wild fruit in the hills in autumn, and sipping tea by the fire in winter.
From then on, the imperial court lost a young general, and Chaxi Village gained a hunter living in the wilderness.
A thousand acres of tea gardens, lush green and boundless. Egrets ride the breeze and play in the evening glow. Through every season, a warm home and a life together, till the end.
#Little scene:
Their wedding night.
Thinking that her husband was someone she'd gotten for free and wouldn't know what to do, Su Qiao decided she should take the initiative and fulfill her duties. The night before the wedding, she asked someone to find her an erotic manual and blushingly read it.
On their wedding night, Su Qiao puffed out her chest and assured Gu Shangci, "Don't be scared. I'll teach you in a moment."
Gu Shangci smiled faintly. "All right."
An hour later.
"No, no more..." Su Qiao bit the corner of the quilt, whimpering as she pushed him away. Her whole body had melted into a puddle, but he quickly gathered her back up.
Gu Shangci kissed the corners of Su Qiao's eyes, now red from crying. His eyes were full of laughter, though his voice remained pitiful. "Did I do something wrong and hurt you? I'm so clumsy, Xiao Qiao. Teach me, please. Teach me again."
Su Qiao: ...
Innocent, strong-willed, naturally absentminded shou x young general with a very tea-flavored gong
Reading guide:
1. The shou is naturally absentminded, not actually stupid. (Important!)
2. Both are natives, and this is a pure farming story. The later chapters won't involve court politics, power struggles, business, or the imperial examinations (very important!). It's simply a story about farming and picking tea. The gong has truly retired and won't return to anything else.
3. A slow-paced farming story about family life and the little things, with a warm and healing tone.
4. They have a child in the extras, not in the main story.
Preorder: *Threeflower Eatery [Farming]*
Blurb:
There's a Threeflower Eatery on Jiangling Street, run by a young man. His cooking is second to none!
Jiang He is an honest man who diligently runs the eatery his parents left him.
He opens early with a steaming bowl of noodles. For lunch, he stews a pot of fresh, tender fish slices in sour broth, fragrant enough to carry for miles. At dinner, he serves spicy stir-fried clams with a pot of wine.
The diners set down their cups and smack their lips. This is the good life!
Then one day, the eatery receives a customer.
The customer looks like a little beggar who's gone three days without food, all disheveled. The moment the food arrives, he devours it. Halfway through the meal, he suddenly drops to the floor with a thump.
Jiang He: !!!
Jiang He quickly saves him. After cleaning him up, he discovers that the little beggar is actually quite handsome, but has a tragic past and nowhere to go.
Jiang He feels sorry for him and lets him stay on as a helper at the shop.
On Shen Yunqin's first day at work, he wears a set of coarse clothes and keeps scratching. Jiang He asks what's wrong.
Xie Yunqin lifts his clothes, revealing the skin underneath, and says with a blush, "The clothes, the clothes are a little rough. They chafe so much."
On Shen Yunqin's second day at work, he eats with Jiang He.
He stares at the two dishes and bowl of rice in front of him, pauses, then stammers, "Weren't there supposed to be eight dishes and a soup?"
On Shen Yunqin's third day at work, Jiang He gets up during the night and hears someone tossing and turning in the other room.
When he asks what's wrong, Xie Yunqin sits up in bed, looking aggrieved. "The bed is so hard. I can't sleep."
Jiang He: ...
Is this a little beggar or some young master who's run away from home?
But Jiang He discovers that although the young master is spoiled, he's very clever.
He listens to Jiang He, and business at the eatery gets better and better. Once customers arrive, they don't want to leave.
Later, when a ruffian comes to cause trouble, the pampered young master throws himself in front of Jiang He and takes the wooden stool hurtling toward him.
When Xie Yunqin wakes up, he's in so much pain that his eyes fill with tears. He looks sorrowfully at Jiang He and says, "It's over. My body's probably been ruined. No one will want me now."
Jiang He's eyes swell up like walnuts. "I want you! I'll marry you and be your husband!"
Many years later, the eatery's business has grown bigger and bigger.
The little tiled house of the past has become a grand restaurant. Customers stream in every day, and business is thriving.
The seasons turn, and time brings new days. Jiang He and Xie Yunqin stay by the eatery's side and grow old together.
