Probably opening after next:
A young Alpha has just joined the CIA. She's average in talent and comes from an average family. They say it took her eight tries to get in.
She smiles at everyone, polite and courteous, and doesn't say much. Aside from her striking looks, there's nothing remarkable about her. She seems like the most honest, well-behaved person imaginable.
Honestly, Zhao Ying thinks life after landing a secure government job is pretty great. It's so nice to have a permanent position. One cup of tea, one cigarette, and one intelligence report to spend the whole day on. Slack off, coast through the day, and go home on time, only occasionally taking on the little assignments the organization sends her.
That's right, she's actually a spy sent to infiltrate the place, a sleeper agent tucked away deep behind enemy lines.
But gradually, things start to go wrong.
First, her well-meaning superior tries to sort out her personal life, insisting she go on a blind date with the Council Speaker's arrogant young son, who never stops talking about Omega rights.
(Yes, yes, I know I'm not good enough for you, but could you stop showing off that gland that's making Alphas swoon?)
Then, worried she might be exposed, the organization sends her a supposedly all-around capable "wife," but this "wife" blushes every time she talks to her.
(Hey, do you remember you're supposed to be a rational, level-headed Beta?)
Her boss at the bureau, a straight Alpha, keeps taking her along on field assignments alone, saying he needs her to protect him?
(As expected, it's best not to be too competent at work.)
She accidentally saves a widowed Omega who is a member of the royal family, and from then on, he calls her nonstop every night, summoning her to private audiences.
(I didn't touch him, not even with a finger. My family has been poor for three generations, and I'm used to going hungry. Now she's serving me a state banquet out of nowhere. Who'd dare eat that?)
Zhao Ying runs herself ragged, navigating among all kinds of powerful elites. It takes brains and stamina. Looking at all the people throwing themselves at her, Zhao Ying rubs her forehead and laughs bitterly. Is this what a proper undercover assignment is supposed to look like?
But she's already here, and it's not like she can quit her cushy government job. Might as well get on with it.
The organization entrusted her with such an important position. She has to live up to the organization and her beliefs.
Later, Zhao Ying rises through the ranks, and her career flourishes just as much as her love life.
She thinks it's time to wrap things up. If she stays undercover any longer, she'll end up running the whole place...
Notes:
1. The heroine is chaotic good, and very loving. The kind of love where she falls for everyone she meets.
2. A sharp-suited professional at work, a sharp-suited thug after hours.
3. A product of being obsessed with the novel Undercover.
4. Toss your brain aside and write!
