Friendship in the Making

Zhou Tingshan was cool and aloof, an outdoor photographer who spent all 365 days of the year either traveling or on his way somewhere.

Shu Wen'an was a gentle, handsome publishing editor who led a quiet life, shuttling between home and work and content to stay in his corner of the city.

The two men had nothing in common, yet had been friends for years. One would unfailingly buy a ticket to the same city wherever he was in the world; the other's house key was always tucked into someone's backpack as he wandered far from home year-round.

“One never comes home, and the other never leaves. Why not just get together and make a life of it?” someone teased. They exchanged a smile.

“Teacher Shu is kind, handsome, and in great shape. He's perfect in every way. I couldn't possibly hold him back.”

“Teacher Zhou is handsome and charming, loved by everyone. Why would he ever want someone like me?”

Their peaceful, happy life lasted for years. Just as they were about to turn thirty, one kiss changed everything.

Heartbeats, body heat, scorching breaths, mingled scents...

When Zhou Tingshan came to his senses, he had left in the middle of the night without a word. Shu Wen'an sat dazed in his room all night.
