Sui Yuan, a high school student anxiously awaiting the apocalypse, woke up one morning completely bewildered.

Overnight, the rotting view beyond her window had turned into a terrifying expanse of enormous trees and vines shrouded in miasma. A giant lizard hung upside down beneath the eaves, staring straight at her with blood-red, slit-pupiled eyes.

And reflected in the shattered window glass was how she looked now: a strange woman.

"The sparrows are about to eat all your sunflower seeds. Aren't you getting up?"

Sui Yuan jumped.

The apocalypse lizards could talk!

On her first day in this strange world,

Sui Yuan felt like an NPC who'd been given a command. She rolled up her sleeves and huffed and puffed as she planted an acre of sunflowers, getting startled left and right in this apocalypse where animals and plants could talk.

On her third day in this strange world,

Sui Yuan found sweet, juicy fruit in the mountains and picked up a little fox with soft, snowy-white fur.

On her seventh day in this strange world,

with the help of a kind passerby, Sui Yuan was shocked to discover that the apocalypse was already over, and that the strange woman in the mirror was actually her nine years in the future.

But that was all right... Sui Yuan trembled with gratitude to God, Buddha, and the ancestral graves at the eastern end of the village. At least she'd made it through the apocalypse safe and sound.

On the thirtieth day after she woke up in the post-apocalyptic world,

the sunflowers she planted blossomed. Their golden blooms gave her an enormous sense of accomplishment. With her farmer's blood awakened, she felt she could farm another ten acres!

On the nth day after she woke up in the post-apocalyptic world,

she looked at the neatly cultivated fields on the mountainside, the farm repaired with every board and nail in place, the huge potatoes piled by the wall and dried chilies hanging beneath the beams, and the spring-fed pool shimmering in the sunset. The lizard and little fox were playing beside it, rolling onto their backs.

She thought: How is this a world after a disaster? This is the life she'd always dreamed of!
