Qin Mian transmigrated into a book.
The night before, he was sitting at a roadside stall eating barbecue with his best friend, Zhou Fuye.
"Rabbit, I saw a trashy novel the other day. There's a character in it with the same name as you. I'll send you the whole thing to memorize sometime."
Qin Mian didn't even look up. He grabbed the unfinished beer beside him and threw it at Zhou Fuye.
Zhou Fuye caught it easily, took a casual sip straight from the can, and kept teasing him, delighted with himself. "Maybe you'll transmigrate into a book one day."
Qin Mian rolled his eyes.
Then the next morning, he woke up in a strange world.
Qin Mian: "..."
Qin Mian: "That idiot Zhou Fuye is dead."
*
In the book, Qin Mian is a timid, love-brained poor thing, married to the second male lead, Fu Han, as part of a political marriage. But the second male lead is obsessed with the protagonist and keeps him at arm's length, while Qin Mian gives and gives without getting anything in return.
The System issues missions at all hours, and failure comes with punishment.
Qin Mian put on a long face and made Fu Han a sumptuous dinner, only for Fu Han to flip the table.
Qin Mian: "..." My fists are clenching. They're really clenching.
But he still had to put on a tearful expression. "Fu Han, your stomach is bad. If you don't eat at night, it'll hurt."
Fu Han looked him in the eyes and replied stiffly, "I'm not hungry. Just looking at you makes me sick."
But when Qin Mian got up for water in the middle of the night, he saw the supposedly "not hungry" man sitting in the living room making instant noodles.
Qin Mian was amused and stood off to the side, silently watching the show.
Fu Han opened a pack of ham and squeezed ketchup into his noodles.
Ketchup in spicy beef noodles...
Qin Mian froze.
Fu Han then deftly poured half a packet of sugar into his freshly brewed tea.
Unable to resist, Qin Mian stepped forward, looked at the man's back, and bent down to pick up his slipper.
The slipper traced an elegant arc through the air and hit Fu Han right in the back of the head.
Only that bastard Zhou Fuye would eat like this!
"What the..." The man eating noodles jerked his head sideways from the blow. He stared in disbelief at the slipper in his noodle cup, then slowly turned around. The person who'd been speaking softly just a few hours ago was glaring at him now, with pretty eyes that looked ready to kill. "...Fuck?"
"Rabbit?!"
Only his Qin Mian could throw with that kind of force and accuracy!

Qin Mian transmigrated into a book.
Good news: His best friend transmigrated too.
Bad news: The Systems they were bound to have opposite missions.
Even worse news: Failing a mission meant being punished with electric shocks.
Qin Mian looked at Zhou Fuye, who had transmigrated into Fu Han, and narrowed his eyes. Fine. Let's see which of us ends up as the human shock toy.
Zhou Fuye grabbed the hand Qin Mian had reached out and smiled helplessly. "Rabbit, can you really bear to watch me get shocked?"
Qin Mian: "Absolutely."
"We can work together," Zhou Fuye suggested, holding the other's wandering hand firmly in place. "We both win."
Work together? That might be possible.
But...
"Get the hell off me! Your mission doesn't include this!"
Zhou Fuye tightened his arms around him and raised an eyebrow. "Rabbit, you weren't saying that last night when you climbed on top of me."
A little extra:
"Zhou Fuye, I think you're short-circuiting." Qin Mian's arm, pressed against Zhou Fuye, was trembling, and even his fingertips were numb.
"That's just you falling for me, baby."
[The blurb is temporary. The author is a compulsive blurb reviser. The central premise, 'Best friends bound to Systems with opposite missions,' will stay, but the setting and details may change.]
