We Went to an All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant with My Roommate, and the Staff Asked Us to Kiss to Verify

So, here's what happened.

It started when I saw a Valentine's Day promotion on a shop's official account. The couples' set meal was such a bargain that not eating it would be a crime against humanity.

I was so hungry I tossed and turned, then turned and tossed, wishing I could sprint the 800 meters to the shop and stuff myself silly.

But there was a problem: I was single, and had been single my whole life.

I looked at my roommate, had a sudden inspiration, and threw myself at her with tears in my eyes. "Godmother, help your poor child!"

My sincere plea moved her, and we headed out together.

But my roommate seemed to be taking things a little too seriously. She had a full face of makeup on, carried a designer handbag, wore a mermaid skirt and high heels, and had sprayed on several pumps of perfume.

I sneezed the whole way there. Thinking of her great kindness, I didn't have the heart to say anything.

Never mind. The place was really popular, so maybe she was just hoping to get some good photos.

When we got there, there was a long line ahead of us. I was so anxious, afraid we wouldn't get to eat the fatty beef rolls, lamb, tripe, and duck intestines that were practically in our mouths already.

Thank goodness, it was finally our turn.

The server asked how long we'd been together.

Not wanting to put my roommate in an awkward position, I immediately said five years and eagerly pulled out some photos of the two of us that I'd taken before.

We'd sworn sisterhood back in our first year of high school. Our bond was stronger than gold, and our friendship was so solid it could move heaven and earth. I refused to believe anyone could see through us.

But it turned out there really was a problem.

The server actually demanded that my roommate and I kiss to prove it!

Was that appropriate? We're best friends! How could we kiss?!

But the hotpot did smell so good, and I was so, so, so hungry. My stomach was already rumbling like an orchestra.

Sigh. It's so hard being foodies.

[So, did you kiss?]
