[A Beloved Guide and the Sentinels She Saves]
Sentinels have extraordinarily sharp senses and make the finest commanders on the battlefield, but sensory overload can easily send their mental powers into a frenzy.
Sentinels on the front lines can schedule regular guidance sessions themselves, choosing the Guide with the best compatibility to keep them in fighting shape.
But Guides are in short supply. Sentinels deemed unfit to fight after evaluation lose their eligibility to book sessions and are instead assigned to the guidance center for disabled Sentinels.
There are usually only retired Guides there, offering guidance with the lowest compatibility possible and leaving the disabled Sentinels' mindscapes to wither into desolation until they regress completely into ordinary people.
Ji Siyan was raised by her blind grandmother. After differentiating as a Guide, the first position she chose was at the guidance center for disabled Sentinels.
She understood the suffering of people with disabilities all too well. So even in a workplace steeped in retirement-home lethargy, she remained enthusiastic, organizing files and creating guidance plans for every Sentinel.
A blind crested eagle, a jaguar with a broken leg, a white tiger whose wounds won't heal, a deaf bat, a berserk hedgehog...
As she watched their mindscapes gradually come back to life, Ji Siyan happily prepared to accept her award as the Best Guide.
But why weren't these Sentinels leaving?
Why were they all crowding outside her office?
And why were they asking her the ultimate question of the century:
"If we all fell into the water at the same time, who would you save first?"
Reader's notes:
1. Strong female lead, all-pairings direction. Each male lead has a different disability. All Sentinels are devoted and have no past relationships. No picking a favorite, and plenty of romantic rivalry.
2. Sentinel and Guide setting, with original worldbuilding. Please don't overanalyze.
3. The author loves redemption stories. If you enjoy this, please add it to your favorites.
