The ni in "yini" (graceful and enchanting)
--
Nibei and his older sister, Nizhen, are succubi, the last surviving members of their kind. Succubi and humans are natural enemies, locked in a fight to the death.
Nibei and his sister have only each other. He loves her passionately and would do anything for her, even give up his life.
After they are ambushed and gravely wounded, Nibei wakes to find that they are living in a human's home. His sister says a human saved them, and that he is a good person.
Nibei can't understand. Even harder to accept is that his sister seems to have developed feelings for that human.
She calls the human Jue-ge.
She wears the clothes he bought for her.
She burns her hand trying to learn how to cook with him.
She even wants to stay by his side forever.
His sister has been bewitched by a human.
No! Humans are all liars! They're bad people! He's pretending to be kind, and he'll hurt her!
Furious, Nibei wants to snap that damned human's neck and drain his blood time and again. But his sister would be heartbroken, and he doesn't want to make her sad.
So... he has to expose the human's true nature and reveal the ugly face beneath that hypocritical mask.
Unlike his pure and kind sister, Nibei is a demon who knows how to seduce.
His skin is smooth as jade, his features alluring, and his fiery hair blazes like a flame. Most striking of all are his bewitching red eyes, so piercing that one look is enough to leave a man spellbound.
If he wants to, there's no man he can't seduce.
He brushes his leg against the human's under the table, wraps his tail around the man's waist, pretends to be afraid of thunder and climbs into his bed in the middle of the night, and traps him in a lustful illusion... He pulls out every trick in a succubus's book.
But Nibei is thoroughly frustrated. The human keeps up his act perfectly, turning a blind eye to Nibei's misbehavior. He treats him with the same gentle indulgence as a child, and even calls him Abei, just like his sister does.
Nibei finds it disgusting. Only his sister is allowed to call him that.
The plan takes a few unexpected turns, but at last, Nibei is straddling the human's lap, wearing nothing but a thin, almost transparent shirt, panting and slick with sweat. The sister he lured back walks in, and the basket of groceries slips from her hands and hits the floor.
Just as Nibei hoped, his sister sees the human for the filthy person he is and chooses to leave with him.

A year ago, Wu Jue, the supreme leader of the exorcist organization, disappeared. His presence was finally discovered at a human settlement while the organization was hunting down the remaining succubi.
He was gravely wounded. Though they managed to save him, he had lost all his memories of the past year.
The only thing that lingered in his mind was a pair of eyes, hazy as smoke and red as drops of blood.

When Nibei encounters that damned human again, he is captured and thrown into a demon-binding dungeon, his hands chained to the wall and his magic gone. He can only watch as the man approaches.
The man is different from before. The cold severity between his brows is exactly what Nibei imagines a cruel, cold-blooded human should look like.
Nibei's eyes brim with wariness and defiance as he bares his teeth at the man.
"I knew you were a liar. I should have killed you long ago!"
The man mercilessly tears off the clothes covering him. Having grown used to human life, Nibei feels humiliated.
"No," the man says, slowly shaking his head as he looks into Nibei's eyes.
That isn't the expression he should be wearing.
What would it take to make him show the expression from the man's memories?
Maybe this would do.
