Zhou Jianwei's husband has been unusually clingy lately.
At first, he would just rush into her studio as soon as he got home from work. Before long, he had moved his computer and files into the studio too, saying he wanted to keep her company while they worked from home.
But Zhou Jianwei noticed that he didn't seem to be "working" at all. He didn't answer messages or calls, look at his computer, or read papers. Most of the time, Lin Musheng simply sat quietly to one side, watching her paint.
They spent a long time holed up together in their home, which was less than two hundred square meters.
Zhou Jianwei had nearly stopped noticing the passage of time. It should have been summer by now, but the house was still bitterly cold, as if it were stuck in early spring.
One day, Zhou Jianwei woke from an endlessly repeating nightmare. A flash of lightning instantly illuminated the bedroom, and summer rain poured down, beating against the windows.
She looked beside her. No one was there.
She picked up her phone, and a news alert suddenly appeared.
"A sudden landslide in the southwestern mountains has left 18 dead and only 1 survivor."
The date was March 4, the day she had been in a car accident and taken to the ICU.
Only one survivor.
But she clearly remembered being rescued alongside Lin Musheng, and he had only been lightly injured. He was discharged a couple of days later.
Zhou Jianwei couldn't shake the unease in her heart.
She opened the door and, using the light from her phone, saw a winding trail of water across the living room floor.
She found Lin Musheng in the bathroom.
He was submerged in the bathtub, surrounded by eerie, blue-green liquid. Zhou Jianwei could only see his impossibly handsome face.
He leaned close to her, extended his lean, strong arm, and wrapped it around her neck.
"Jianwei..."
Lightning flashed again. Trembling, Zhou Jianwei lowered her head and saw a complete, extraordinarily beautiful...
Snake shed.
Premise: Live with hope.
