[Sweet-tempered inheritor of an intangible cultural heritage × flamboyant CEO who'll happily be a dog for love]
For a business collaboration, Jiang Yubai travels to Danzhai, Guizhou.
A young Miao man from Danzhai rolls up his sleeves. With arms as pure and smooth as lotus roots, he patiently teaches the shop's customers how to do batik. Whenever he glances up, his eyes are as beautiful and clear as a stream.
The person in charge tells Jiang Yubai that he's an inheritor of Danzhai Miao batik, a sweet-natured and lovable young man so popular that everyone for miles around wants to set him up with someone.
But the kid always talks about his lover, who died in a car accident, in a sorrowful tone. He even says he'll remain a widower for the rest of his life.
The person in charge gives Jiang Yubai an appraising look, then says with a pointed smile, “He loved that man so deeply. We can't go messing with his relationship with his ex, can we?”
Jiang Yubai smiles faintly. “Is that so? Sounds great. I like widowers.”
He'd thought he and Tan Zhi had spent four years together in a loving relationship. Tan Zhi had always indulged him in bed, and whatever Jiang Yubai could think of, Tan Zhi could do.
Who would've thought, Tan Zhi? You could sleep with me for four years, then walk away without a backward glance. And now you're telling everyone I'm dead?
Jiang Yubai sends the person in charge away, then heads straight into the batik shop.
Tan Zhi sits in a chair, head bowed as he wipes his hands. Someone takes the chair in front of him. Without looking up, he says, “Sorry, we're closed now.”
“Oh? Then tell me, young man, you with the deep and abiding love. Is there any kind of Gu spell that can bring a dead ex-husband back to life?”
Tan Zhi: …
Jiang Yubai grips Tan Zhi's wrist and smiles through gritted teeth. “I hear you've been telling everyone I died in a car accident?”
*Tan Zhi can't use Gu, but he can't let go, and he can't forget either.
Things that may not be your cup of tea:
1. One-on-one romance, happy ending, no bad habits for either lead. The top is very committed to being a proper gentleman, too.
2. I haven't had a chance to visit Danzhai before writing this book, so all my material comes from online videos and a few written sources. The Miao culture and local customs of southeastern Guizhou in the story may differ from reality. Please understand. (Cue dramatic spotlight.)
3. Everyday slice-of-life, told in a laid-back, detailed style.
My next book will be "Wangque Terrace". Please add it to your reading list!
[Vengeful, pleasure-loving top × refined, fallen beauty bottom]
Yu Ziyu, Marquis of Mingzheng, made a name for himself at a young age. With the bearing of a crane and the poise of a pine, he sweeps the enemy aside with his spear. Only Pei She can match him in a vicious clash.
Pei She is infamous for his brutality, yet he often comes off worse at Yu Ziyu's hands, and the two have a long, tangled history.
The emperor fears Yu Ziyu's power and worries that his military achievements will overshadow the throne. Rather than let Pei She kill Yu Ziyu, he strips Yu Ziyu of his authority.
The favored son of heaven becomes a cripple overnight. First, Pei She, that mad dog, bites him and claims him for himself. From then on, he never lets go.
Theme: Preserve and pass down the Miao batik craft of Danzhai, Guizhou.
