Modern young man Ji Shuhe transmigrated to an ancient era without phones or computers and spent fourteen years there. For entertainment, he either talked grandly with the Crown Prince or toyed with the capital's bullies in the palm of his hand.
Until one day, when the arrogant chosen one came to break off their engagement, he learned that this was actually a world of immortal cultivation, and he was a cannon-fodder character destined for face-slapping.
The jade ruyi that kept claiming it could grant people's wishes: Then what am I...?
Ji Shuhe declared with conviction: You're the System!
He heard he had exceptional spiritual roots, so he was hauled off to the cultivation world.
He never expected that immortal cultivation would let people choose a major. While everyone else looked baffled, the internet-addicted boy eagerly chose the most obscure discipline: artifact cultivation.
Evil Little Shu, tinkering away in earnest:
Movies? Put them in!
Games? Put them in!
Forums? Put them in!
From then on, the cultivation academy bustled like a marketplace. People comprehended the Dao through movies, refined swords in games, and shared cultivation tips on forums.
The demon clans, who had spent a thousand years cooped up at home, couldn't resist joining the cultivation world's online community either.
And so the cultivation world experienced a small taste of the internet's power from a later age.

Jiufang Zaizai remained in this realm because of a pact with the Heavenly Dao. With nothing better to do, he would turn into a jade ruyi and wander the mortal world.
The ruyi granted human wishes, but their greed ultimately brought about their deaths. After drifting around, it eventually ended up in the hands of a young man, who even called it a System.
Jiufang Zaizai tried every trick to coax Ji Shuhe into making a wish, but to no avail. Watching one clueless cultivator after another fawn over Ji Shuhe, he finally lost his temper, restored his true form, and took him as a disciple. He declared, "Everyone under my command cultivates the path of heartlessness. Falling in love is a grave taboo."
Later...
Jiufang Zaizai gently bit Ji Shuhe's earlobe and declared with conviction, "The Great Dao has room for true love. Love won't overturn your Dao heart!"
