Xia Xian, lead singer of the band Summer Stipulation, can listen to music and automatically picture its flavor and color without even trying.
And beyond music, there's Qiu Ming. He's the only person in the world whose flavor and color Xia Xian can discern at a glance.
Qiu Ming is the sophisticated, bittersweet aftertaste of a first love, evoking a certain summer: blazing feelings, sweat that leaves you tipsy, and the urge to hold him close without a word, even as you can't help yourself.
Apart from his annoying habit of running away when love is on the line, Qiu Ming is actually a pretty decent guy. It's just a shame they broke up by accident, and seven years have already flown by.
Xia Xian had thought he'd grown immune to love, but when he stood on the stage of a terrible variety show and heard his damn ex go on about how well he sang, he decided he wasn't quite over it.
So here's the question: now that his damn ex is asking to get back together, should he part ways with him on good terms, or wish him a sudden death?

① This is a free story, so please don't offer writing advice. You don't need to tell me if you're dropping it. Hopefully we'll meet again someday when my writing has improved. Thank you.
② About the characters: Qiu Ming x Xia Xian. Older, outwardly cold but inwardly lustful black-lotus type x shameless, synesthesia-afflicted heartthrob adored by everyone.
③ About the story: Not your typical entertainment-industry novel. The characters aren't based on real people. Some of the competition format and occasional inspiration come from the variety show The Big Band.
④ About the plot: 1v1 romance, with the pursuer trying to win his wife back, but not much of a groveling arc. At the start, the top plays hard to get, and there's not much direct interaction with the bottom. There are clues in the early chapters, some twists along the way, but the story is pretty cheerful overall.
⑤ About the author: A nationally certified performer of the graceful retreat, a slow-burn danmei master, somewhat long-winded, decent prose, makes things up as inspiration strikes, and tries to keep it plausible.
Theme: The protagonist is the lead singer, but the author plays bass, so bass is the best. No arguments accepted.
