After Faking My Death, the Mad Empress Fell for Me

The dense fog of Wushan disappeared, then returned, all within the span of three short years.

The mountain spirit of Wushan, who had been "dead" for three years, opened her emerald-green eyes and looked at the mountain creatures lamenting around her. With a wave of her delicate hand, she sent down a gentle, lingering rain.

The raindrops fell on the living creatures. The wounded healed in an instant, and those stuck at a bottleneck broke through at once.

A mighty roar erupted from the beasts across the mountain!

Their mountain spirit had returned, having overcome the tribulation of love in her destiny!!!

When the returned Mist Spirit heard the creatures' curious questions, she said nothing, only smiled. Before long, she secluded herself again to devote herself to cultivation.

This time, she would ascend straight to immortality.

But someone always stood in her way on the path to becoming an immortal.

Her tribulation of love kept interfering with her.

Unable to kill or hurt her, the Mist Spirit simply chose to shut herself away.

Human lives lasted only a few dozen years. She could wait.

*

Her tribulation of love was over, and immortality was within reach...

That was how it was supposed to be.

The Mist Spirit tugged at the corner of her mouth. Her jade eyes, filled with all living things, rested on the empress. She was so weak she could barely lift a hand.

"Your Majesty, turn back while you still can..."

"All under heaven belongs to the emperor. Mist Spirit, you are the god of Wushan... You should belong to me, too."

In a resplendent palace, the sovereign who looked down on all her ministers bent over the bed, her obsessive gaze fixed on the deity lying there.

She murmured, "A Ling, you will never leave me. Never."

Immortal-binding chains firmly bound the deity's hands and feet, while faint golden threads of light enclosed the palace in an airtight prison.

The Mist Spirit sighed.

"Your Majesty, wasn't it you who wanted me dead in exchange for the throne?"

Ji Wu's slender shoulders trembled. "I... I regret it, A Ling."
