As childhood friends with the special-grade sorcerer Geto Suguru, Hanakawa Yume used to think she was lucky.
They went to school together, trained together, and, naturally, would get married someday.
Until she woke up and activated a real-life dating simulation System.
Target: Geto Suguru (corrupted version).
Faced with a vision of her lover about to fall into darkness and destroy everything, Hanakawa Yume chose without hesitation to save him.
Then the first prompt flashed across the screen:
[Dead Ending.]
She died.
He lowered his head and held her, compassion filling his purple eyes. "Yume, this is for the greater good."
Hanakawa Yume fell silent for three seconds.
...Let's stay alive first, everyone.
The second time she died, she smiled.
The third time, as she looked at her limp body, she saw her childhood friend, now twenty-seven, kneeling in a pool of blood, grieving as if he had lost the whole world.
But why?
Why, when he was crying so desperately, did she feel nothing but an overwhelming emptiness?
When she woke up for the fourth time, she said coolly to the System:
"I'm done with this."
System: ???
From then on, she stopped pursuing him and stopped falling in love. She lived only for herself.
She turned the original tragic romance route into an adventure across a whole new world.
But can someone tell her:
Who was that black-haired man with narrowed eyes following behind her?
The one who kept talking about love and bonds as he pursued her, step by step?
Geto Suguru didn't understand.
He worked hard, lit cigarettes for the brown-haired guy, and helped the white-haired guy clear mines.
He cooked for his childhood sweetheart,
only for his wife to run away.
Dedicated employee and good husband Geto Suguru: ???
"Fate, don't you owe me a wife?"
System: I can't help you. She even ditched me.
As time turned backward and the kaleidoscope shattered,
rain soaked his wounds.
He stood before Hanakawa Yume, not knowing whether the water on his face was rain or utter despair.
He had once believed he was the person destiny had chosen for her.
Until she looked up at him and said calmly:
"I don't want destiny. I only want myself."
"Lord Geto, go home."
At last, he understood.
She wanted neither fate nor him.
And so Geto Suguru thought:
Then perhaps he should destroy this world with her.
As long as he could be with her, it didn't matter if the world disappeared or fate was reshaped.
You want yourself, and I want you.
I was born for you and created for you. From now on, you are the only god in my life.
Reader's Guide:
1. This is a committed relationship, and Geto is Yume's dog.
2. The author can't bear to see women suffer, so the groveling-after-the-breakup arc has a twist. In any case, the author can't accept a male lead killing the female lead, so this is a heads-up.
3. If you can't accept that, please leave. Arigato.
