When Qin Xiaozhu wakes up, she has become the ex-wife of a powerful villain in a period novel: the hypocritical, selfish, scheming white-lotus female supporting character who goes to great lengths to marry into a prestigious family. But when the father of the Lu family is dismissed and investigated, and the whole family is sent away to the countryside, she promptly divorces the male lead at the civil affairs bureau, ignoring his pleas, rushes to the hospital to abort the child in her womb, then gets into a car and leaves without a backward glance.
By the end of the story, Qin Xiaozhu is abused by her cheating husband and beaten until her face is bruised and swollen every day. Half-paralyzed in bed and covered in lice, she sees all the children she gave birth to leave her.
Meanwhile, the Lu family, who were sent away that day, have long since cleared their names and been reinstated to their official positions. Their fortunes are incomparable to before.
As Qin Xiaozhu collapses at the doorway, she sees her former husband step out of a car in a suit, with a beautiful young woman by his side. Tears stream down Qin Xiaozhu's face as she regrets the choice she made.
Qin Xiaozhu, now transmigrated into the story: ...I'm going to the countryside with them.
