Wen Ci heads to the capital to sit the imperial examinations. Before she can show off her talent, she gets a taste of the world's fickleness.
Her kindness gets her swindled out of most of her savings.
As if things weren't bad enough, Wen Ci tries to save money by taking a shortcut. Not only does she get lost in the wilderness, she also stumbles upon a feud between martial artists and a scene of pursuit.
In the middle of the fight, the young hero being chased and Wen Ci, who is trying to run away, lock eyes--
Wait, that's not right.
It turns out to be a martial arts expert trying to bring a rebellious young woman home.
Fu Xia, the rebellious young woman who ran away from home, holds out her hand and smiles brightly. "I'm going to become a high-ranking official!"
Wen Ci takes her hand.
From then on, whether in the treacherous world of officialdom or on battlefields strewn with corpses, Fu Xia stands by her side.
Together, they will forge a path to success for themselves.
