[Harry Potter] In the Shadow of Slytherin's Chosen One

"Your family has three hundred acres?"

"Yeah."

"You have adoptive parents?"

"Yeah, three of them."

"Your family has House-elves?"

"Mm, over eighty, I think?"

"Say that again. Who are you?"

"I'm Harry Potter."

"Huh?"

Harry Potter grew up on a three-hundred-acre estate. His biggest worry each day was that his pudding portion wouldn't be enough.

That is, until one day, he received his letter from Hogwarts.

His three adoptive parents sent him off on the Hogwarts Express, letting his words, "Mum, I really don't want to go to Hogwarts," drift away on the wind.

On the first day of term, Harry sat on a chair in the Great Hall, waiting to be sorted.

"Very difficult, extremely difficult..." The Sorting Hat examined Harry Potter's thoughts, hesitating over which house would suit him best.

"Excuse me," Harry Potter said cautiously.

The Sorting Hat asked kindly, "Child, have you already decided where you want to go?"

"I hope you don't mind me asking, but when was the last time you were cleaned?"

The Sorting Hat: "?"

Harry cautiously steadied his hair with one hand, discreetly putting some distance between his strands and the Sorting Hat. "Because you look very... experienced."

The Sorting Hat: "...You're the second student to ask me that. You remind me of that unusual student who transferred here in her fifth year."

Harry exclaimed excitedly, "Do you mean my mum? Her name is Eleanor Kane."

The Sorting Hat: "..."

"Slytherin!"

Welcome to the world of another Harry Potter.

He didn't live under the stairs or in a little attic.

He just happened to become a Slytherin version of The Chosen One.

Notes:

1. Harry Potter is sorted into Slytherin.

2. His three adoptive parents are the Slytherin trio from Hogwarts Legacy: the protagonist, Sebastian, and Ominis. (You don't need to have played Hogwarts Legacy to enjoy this story.)

3. This is an extremely OOC, lighthearted story. It's not too silly; I wrote it to amuse myself, so read at your own risk if that bothers you.

4. Harry has a rather unusual personality because his three adoptive parents are unreliable.

5. A slow-burn, slice-of-life story.

6. OOC, OOC, OOC. Important things bear repeating three times.

7. I'll add more if I think of anything.
