The Twins' Little Drama Queen

[The Second Book in the Haicheng Trilogy]

Six-year-old Shen Buqi arrived in Haicheng and was raised in the Wen household, doted on by a pair of twins. Shen Buqi often couldn't tell them apart.

He had never been able to see their faces clearly. He only knew that they had completely different personalities: Wen Da was strict, while Wen Er was gentle.

But they held Shen Buqi to even higher standards than they would a sighted person. In the Wen household, mistakes were punished.

Shen Buqi wasn't insecure or prone to overthinking. He made trouble and did whatever he pleased, able to walk all over Haicheng. He even ran away from home without a second thought.

Then... they caught him and brought him back.

That night, Wen Da stood sternly over him, undoing his belt as Shen Buqi wept hysterically.

Wen Er's heart softened. He gathered Shen Buqi in his arms and soothed him. "All right, don't cry."

Then... Shen Buqi cried even harder.

After Wen Da beat Shen Buqi, it became a habit for him to snuggle into Wen Er's arms.

Even after he regained his sight, Shen Buqi still did the same, only now he seemed even more brazen, daring to complain to Wen Er about Wen Da.

Wen Da gripped him by the throat, like a demon that had fought its way out of hell. "You little brat, take a good look at who I am."

Shen Buqi stared in a daze. "Daddy, is it still not too late to run?"

Wen Da raised an eyebrow. Shen Buqi looked toward the doorway. Wen Er had already blocked it completely. There was no escape.
