The Fake Canary

Yu Wandeng had always hated cold, loveless business marriages.

Her mother told her to let go of her prejudices and meet Xue Fujin.

Yu Wandeng didn’t want to get tangled up in it, so she pretended to agree.

Then she turned around and invited her match to a bar.

She had scouted the place ahead of time, looking for ages until she finally found a cool, aloof older woman who caught her eye.

“Hi, big sis~”

“Could you do me a favor?~ Pretend to be my kept woman in front of my blind date~”

The older woman looked up at her but said nothing.

Yu Wandeng knew it was a bold request. The woman’s gaze was so cold that Yu Wandeng thought she was about to be turned down.

A few seconds later, the woman suddenly stood up and played along. “Sure.”

That night, they took their act all the way to the bedroom.

Her kept woman was glamorous and captivating, yet gentle and considerate.

Given enough time, even a fake relationship could become real.

Yu Wandeng felt she was falling for her.

But one day, her kept woman suddenly disappeared without a word.

Yu Wandeng was devastated and, for once, drank herself silly.

Then her mother took advantage of the chaos and ambushed her, inviting Xue Fujin right over to their house.

“Wandeng, Xue Fujin said she wanted to hang out with you. Come over and say hello.”

Yu Wandeng: “...?” What a flimsy lie. There was no way Xue Fujin wanted to hang out with her.

“Oh, since you’re here, make yourself comfortable,” Yu Wandeng said listlessly, then hazily lifted her head. “Xue, ”

“Xue Fujin?!”

Well, I’ll be damned.

Why did Xue Fujin have the exact same face as her kept woman?!
