[A little witch doggedly trying to become an evil cultivator, only to grow more heartbroken the harder she tries] x [A sword cultivator undercover in an evil-cultivator stronghold who ultimately rises to the top]
Synopsis:
Aili is a necromancer witch, hated by everyone in a kingdom devoted to the God of Light. But luckily, she transmigrates to an Eastern fantasy world, and lands right in the middle of an evil-cultivator stronghold.
The "mages" here all wear skulls at their waists and carry spirit-summoning banners.
Aili: Oh my goodness, I've finally found my people!
Seeing an unfamiliar "cultivator" among them, the evil cultivators suspect she is a spy sent by the immortal sects. Aili hurriedly insists that they're on the same side:
"I satisfy human greed and make contracts with people's souls."
Evil cultivator who extracts souls alive: "You mean you grant their wishes before refining their souls?"
"I long for eternal life, and nothing can shake my resolve, even if everyone stands in my way."
Evil cultivator who lives for the moment: "You mean your Dao heart is unshakable?"
"Most importantly, since becoming a necromancer witch, I've killed three people, and they were my father, younger brother, and husband."
Evil cultivator who massacred three cities: "You mean you've only killed three people since becoming an evil cultivator, and they were all people close to you?"
"Now you believe I'm one of you, right?"
"Oh my goodness, she's a spy sent by the righteous path!"
Hounded by the evil cultivators, Aili stumbles into the largest sect of the righteous path. Even after becoming its leader, she still doesn't understand: Am I not evil enough?

The righteous sects receive a prophecy: a natural-born demonic star will appear in the Nine Provinces, slaughter the immortal sects, and enter the Dao through killing.
To snuff out the threat before it can take root, the sects send their finest sword cultivator undercover into the evil-cultivator stronghold.
During his long years undercover, Yun Wuya gradually realizes that he might, possibly, probably be the natural-born demonic star who destroys the immortal sects.
In a secret realm, Yun Wuya receives a mission to destroy the demonic star's legacy. He gives a cold laugh and is about to ascend to the throne of Demon Lord when a girl dashes over.
The girl pants as she runs to the throne: "Oh, I really am the natural-born demonic star. What a relief. I was worried I was the leader of the righteous path."
Yun Wuya: ...Wait, if you're the natural-born demonic star, then what am I?
