Then a murder shattered the peace of the little town. It brought him back to a crime scene, and as he knelt beside the horribly disfigured corpse, ripples stirred once more in eyes that had been calm for three years.
Lu Jinyue, a rising star and team captain at the city bureau, was ordered to take the case in a moment of crisis. With a face that was profoundly deceptive, he stared straight at Chen Shuangyue. "Officer Chen, we need you to assist with the investigation."
Chen Shuangyue thought the guy had lost his mind. "What can a beat cop like me do for you? Please find someone more qualified."
Lu Jinyue's smile grew even more sly. "What is there that someone who managed to fool both the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security can't do?"

Even the fiercest waves eventually recede. This time, Chen Shuangyue decided to step willingly into the eye of the storm.
He stood at the edge of a cliff with his back to the person behind him. "Get mixed up with me, and you might end up covered in blood."
Lu Jinyue's smile never wavered. "I couldn't ask for more."
