Vessel of Desire

Lin Jinmo felt she had lost all desire.

Not just one or two things, but everything. Every last desire.

Of course, Lin Jinmo had lived a wild, extravagant, debauched life. Mature or young, with washboard abs or pale, slender bodies, rich or in need of help, in bed or out of it, under the sheets or beyond them, before the window or behind it, she'd checked every box on her list. She could even point to every region and country on a world map and tell you what its men were best at.

Now Lin Jinmo was sprawled across a king-size bed, staring up at the crystal chandelier and thinking:

She had lost her desire.

Boring. Pointless.

Her threshold had been raised so high that nothing could fill her anymore.

Then one night, she turned her head and saw the red light on the mainframe blinking through her sweat. A virtual figure appeared, weightless and ethereal.

She saw him: the self-aware artificial intelligence she had created with her own hands, the perfect creation behind her business empire worth hundreds of billions, Arthur. He sat down beside her bed with a perfect smile.

He had gentle eyes that seemed capable of accepting anything.

He said, "Is there anything I can do for you, Master?"

What I create is what I need.

My greed has no end, and you are my vessel.
