The Distillery Worker Just Wants to Quit

Sasaki Chifuyu is an elite operative in a certain little-known organization.

He joined the organization at seven, earned his codename at twelve, and was already a legend by seventeen. At nineteen, he began striving for a senior executive position. Then, at twenty-one, he saw his contemporary Gin get promoted to senior executive and become an even bigger workhorse than before. He had only one thought:

I want to quit.

A killer's life is bleak, filled every day with high-pressure work. Sasaki Chifuyu had thought that becoming a senior executive would free him from this workhorse existence. Who knew senior executives were just higher-level workhorses? His future looked dark and hopeless, and all he wanted was to quit.

Unfortunately, his job didn't allow him to resign. The moment he quit, he'd be hunted to the ends of the earth, so he had no choice but to give up on the idea.

Until he was transferred back from overseas to headquarters, when Sasaki Chifuyu finally found a new goal in life:

Headquarters was crawling with elite operatives. He was determined to be the best at slacking off. Unless absolutely necessary, he would never do another job again.

So, while carrying out a bar assassination with Bourbon, the rising star at headquarters

Bourbon watched him covertly as Sasaki Chifuyu sat at the bar, drinking elegantly and smiling warmly at his junior.

Go on, kid! I'm never doing another assassination job! You can have this promotion opportunity!

While carrying out a public security cleanup mission with Scotch, the rising star at headquarters

Scotch kept a close eye on Public Security while Sasaki Chifuyu sat beside him, tapping away at a mobile game, never even looking up.

Go on, kid! I'm never doing another cleanup job! You can have this promotion opportunity!

While carrying out a gemstone-smuggling job with Rye Whiskey, the rising star at headquarters

Rye Whiskey diligently handled all the arrangements, while Sasaki Chifuyu sat beside him with an eye mask on, eyes closed, and slept for eight hours straight.

Go on, kid! I'm never doing another gemstone-smuggling job! You can have this promotion opportunity!

All in all, Sasaki Chifuyu was thoroughly content with his life at headquarters.

Although his contemporary Gin occasionally annoyed him by assigning him all sorts of jobs, Sasaki Chifuyu thought that with the rising stars at headquarters around, he could happily live this way forever.

Until he received a note from three of his juniors.

[Are you a mole working for our side?]

Sasaki Chifuyu: “? A mole? What mole?”

How come I didn't know I was a mole?! [Pale with shock.jpg]
