Don't Grade Papers on a Date

Under pressure, Pingwu agreed to the blind date her family arranged.

Her date was a high school math teacher who always wore an immaculate shirt and carried a briefcase full of lesson plans and exam papers.

At their first dinner date, he handed her the menu, then lowered his head to grade papers.

At their second date, they went to a pet shop together. He sat beside her, head lowered as he graded papers.

At their third date, he brought her a bouquet and used the red pen he graded papers with to write, in neat handwriting, "I like you."

After they moved in together, Pingwu found a diary in his briefcase.

The first entry was dated ten years ago, when they were seventeen.

"I found her exam paper. I didn't give it back to her."

The last entry was from yesterday.

"She took the exam paper from my hands and kissed me."
