My School-Novel Self Keeps Swapping Places With My Infinite-Flow Older Brother

I.

Lately, I've felt like something was wrong. When I answered a question in class, all my classmates looked like corpses. Whenever I stayed up late doing practice problems, I saw shadows drifting past the window. Once, I accidentally tore my exam paper. When I was on break watching a show, bloody handprints appeared on the TV screen. Even when people called my name, it sounded unfamiliar.

To figure out what was going on, I told my childhood friend about it while we were eating in the cafeteria. Suddenly, I saw a giant ghost face. When I came to, my food was on his head.

Me: Sorry.

Him: It's okay. Maybe we should see a doctor?

I fell silent.

Later, I finally understood. I was the protagonist of a campus novel, and my own mother, the author of the novel I lived in, was also serializing an infinite-loop novel.

My older brother, whom I'd never met, and I kept having our names mixed up by our absent-minded mom.

Me: ...

You really want me to fight monsters?

My brother: ...

You really want me to do practice problems?

Reader: Author, you got the protagonist's name wrong. You used the one from your other novel. Please fix it.

Author: Oh! I'm writing two novels at once and mixed up my boys. Thanks for catching that. Fixed!

Theme: Experience different lives.
