Romance and divorce reality shows have long worn out their welcome. What viewers want now is to see a bunch of "villains" or bitter rivals thrown together, putting on a no-holds-barred show of "If I'm unhappy, none of you are going to have a good time either." And so the first travel reality show featuring sworn enemies was born.

The guests handpicked by the production team all came with a history of bad blood:

[Two rivals at the same company fighting to become its top star. One made it through thanks to preferential access to resources, and the two have never appeared together since debuting.]

[A cocky entertainment-world hotshot who takes on everyone, and a fairly well-known fashion designer. They have absolutely nothing to do with each other, yet both quit the same show one after the other because of the other person.]

Even more exciting, one of the four pairs of "sworn enemies" is fake. Viewers will vote to identify them at the end of the show.

But as filming went on, things gradually took an unexpected turn:

Why are the popular idols who supposedly can't stand each other childhood friends with a bickering, lovey-dovey dynamic? Why were the workplace enemies once housemates years ago? How come the rivals who've never appeared together are each other's only collaborators in a work available only on a cloud drive and never officially announced?

And the most baffling pair of all are Xie Yunchen and Chi Xishan, who seem to have had an unspoken relationship in high school...

On the show, the cocky guy who usually ignores everyone coldly makes sure his sworn enemy eats breakfast, deliberately leans over to use the sleeping man's shoulder as a pillow during a car ride, and crushes a wineglass in his hand when he sees his sworn enemy calling his boyfriend...

Netizens: Stop acting. How are these sworn enemies? They're obviously a couple who haven't gone public!

Netizens: Director, are you sure all of these people are sworn enemies? Isn't this just a dating show in disguise?!

The director's inner monologue: I swear, when I picked them, I really thought they wanted each other to disappear from the face of the earth...

On the final day, the production team released unseen footage from the first episode, leaving everyone stunned. In two sealed rooms with no connection to each other, Xie Yunchen and Chi Xishan, whom the whole internet had been urging to "stay together forever," both wrote the same two words on the whiteboard:

"Enemies"

Netizens: We're done for. We shipped an actual pair of sworn enemies...

Their agent knew they were each other's exes and was terrified Xie Yunchen would become a homewrecker for love. He repeatedly warned him not to do anything stupid, but no matter how many times Xie Yunchen promised, he couldn't relax.

It wasn't until Chi Xishan mentioned on the show that his current boyfriend was his first love that Xie Yunchen seemed to forget all the warnings. He gritted his teeth and demanded:

"If he's your first love, then what am I?"

More than hating him for being heartless and using him, Xie Yunchen hated that he had never taken the time Xie Yunchen so often reminisced about seriously, not even acknowledging it.

He still remembered how, on the night they broke up, the boy had stated categorically that he wasn't into men. Yet halfway through the show, he saw the two of them standing together intimately.

Visiting openly, without hiding it.

It was as if the boy's eighteen-year-old pride were being trampled underfoot and ground to pieces over and over again.

While everyone was loudly searching for them during filming, Xie Yunchen finally lost patience. He covered Chi Xishan's mouth and hid him in a cramped room, his eyes bloodshot as he begged, utterly humiliated:

"Let's break up. I'm begging you."

If we don't break up, I'm going to lose my mind...

One day after they got together, Chi Xishan gazed at the sleeping Xie Yunchen, his fingertips tracing his brows and eyes as he murmured softly in his ear:

"All these years, there's only ever been you."

I've only ever liked you.

The boy's secret had been exposed in the humid air during that sweltering plum-rain season, sinking deep into his bones, impossible to let go of.

[Reading Guide]

1. The main couple rekindles their romance. They say they hate each other, but in truth they both still think about each other. They are each other's only love and first love, and have only ever been devoted to one another. The photographer boyfriend is fictional.

2. The bottom really is a liar (about things that aren't harmful, but he cares a lot about them). He tricked the top into falling for him, took his money, and used him, only to develop real feelings (they're both good kids). A love full of passion and bitterness!!! (in bold)

3. The top is quite different from what you'd expect. As a boy, he was puppy-like when dating. After being deceived in love, he becomes somewhat gloomy and ghostlike. He will cross his own boundaries (he knows the bottom has a boyfriend, but deliberately gets close to him, hoping to become the third party). He's only pretending to be the third, so don't mind it!

4. Romance-focused! A no-brainer story. Please don't compare it to the real entertainment industry!

5. Side couples: one childhood-friends pair of sworn enemies, with the top secretly in love with the bottom; one pair with a rented-apartment storyline, where the top betrays the bottom and then pursues him through hell; one pair of genuine sworn enemies in a secret-crush storyline, with top and bottom roles not yet decided.

As an Alpha candidate who's good-looking, fit, and from a well-off family, Sheng Mingyan is the envy of everyone.

But in his otherwise smooth-sailing life, one person dared to defy him!

His childhood friend, the Omega Qi Zhan, who dared to take the entrance exam for a different school behind his back.

Now this poor Omega childhood friend was in an alley near his school, surrounded by a gang of thugs. Remembering the solemn oath he'd made, Sheng Mingyan was just about to turn around and pretend he hadn't seen anything when he heard Qi Zhan pleading for mercy from inside the alley.

So the boy clenched his fists, turned around, and charged in to fight.

After swiftly laying out the thugs, Sheng Mingyan looked at the "delicate" Omega, who was 184 centimeters tall, and asked in confusion, "When did you get so tall?"

Qi Zhan: "..."

Nutrition sure is good these days. Even Omegas can grow this tall... I'm jealous!

Though he said he was there to settle things, Sheng Mingyan's feelings slowly changed as Qi Zhan transferred to his school and began treating him warmly...

His heart raced, his cheeks flushed, and even... his gland grew hot.
