Down-on-his-luck former champion vs. loyal dog of a hero
*
The former champion of the immortal path vanished several years ago.
Most of the cultivation world speculated that she had simply chosen to disappear and live in seclusion.
After all, anyone who had been framed by their sect
and had their bones broken in front of a crowd, among other things, would be remarkably forgiving not to go on a killing spree.
And yet Xu Yinqing risked losing all her cultivation to mend the tear in the sky, despite having made enemies of every sect.
When it was done, she brushed off her sleeves and vanished, concealing all credit for her deed.
The whole cultivation world was overcome with gratitude and shame at the disappearance of this former champion.
Years later, Xu Yinqing crawled out of her own grave. Hearing the rumors about herself, she gave a sinister laugh. Who says I don’t plan to settle old scores?
Especially you, Ji Huaizhi. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have died so young.
But a bunch of youngsters tricked her into becoming the head of their sect. It was barely a sect at all, just a rundown outfit with no money and no cultivation manuals.
With a hungry crowd of young disciples waiting on her, Xu Yinqing couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.
As head of a shabby sect, she had to take the juniors out to see the world.
On the road, Xu Yinqing grabbed some random passerby to make a good showing. But when she got a proper look at him,
she froze. So much had changed in the cultivation world during the years she’d been dead.
Even the random passersby were this handsome.
Together, she and Ji Ling diligently set about giving their careers a second spring.
Xu Yinqing never expected that by farming the immortal sects’ guilt, she would turn a no-name sect into a thriving enterprise.
And so, the former number-one swordswoman of the cultivation world returned to the scene.

“Ji Huaizhi, I thought I’d go on a killing spree. You know I’ve never been the sort to swallow my pride when someone knocks out my teeth. After my sect disowned me, they knocked every bit of pride out of me too. How could I not hate everyone? How could I just let it go?”
“But after all that hate, you… Why did you go to your death with me back then?”
One-on-one, happy ending.
In just a few short years, they became comrades bound by life and death, their regrets impossible to resolve.
All that had come before faded away.
