The Sinister Emperor Has Been Reborn Too

I.

If you could start over, would you make the same mistakes again?

Yu Chengyan thought he would still help that man fight for the throne. After all, the man was a rare, wise ruler with grand ambitions and an exceptional gift for statecraft.

But he would not fall in love with him again.

Loving someone hurt too much.

It would be enough to remain bound by the ties between ruler and subject, then watch him fill his palace with consorts and leave his name in the history books.

II.

Yu Chengyan no longer loved him, but for some reason, in this life, that man refused to accept it.

On the day he ascended the throne, the man dismissed everyone from the great hall, where incense and candles burned, then wrapped an arm around Yu Chengyan's waist and cornered him.

Before the ancestral tablets, eyes red, he asked through bloodcurdling sobs, each word dripping with pain, "Why don't you love me anymore?"

III.

In the empty imperial harem, Yu Chengyan sat in the courtyard reading, a thin chain fastened around his ankle.

The sun was warm, and the temperature was just right.

The man, dressed in a bright yellow dragon robe, shuffled awkwardly up to Yu Chengyan and reached out with his little finger to hook the hem of his robe.

Yu Chengyan smiled. "Your Majesty, what are you doing?"

The man hid the possessive madness in his eyes and pleaded, "A Yan, please love me, all right?"
