The Half-Husband

Her father was the Left Chancellor, her mother was the Princess of Changle, and she had a face of breathtaking beauty. Han Miaoyan was one of the most distinguished young ladies in the capital.

Before she had even come of age, matchmakers from every household were practically trampling the threshold of the Left Chancellor's residence. The Princess of Changle carefully considered potential matches, hoping to find her daughter a husband who would suit her perfectly.

However, during that year's imperial examinations, Left Chancellor Han Yang went out to oversee the exams. After the metropolitan examination ended, he returned with a young man from a poor family and insisted that Han Miaoyan marry him.

Because of her father's firm insistence, Han Miaoyan initially disliked the young man. But after meeting him several times, she found that the scholar named Cheng Xu was indeed as talented and eloquent as her father had said.

Even a poem he had casually composed was astonishingly brilliant, and it was praised throughout the capital. He also promised Han Miaoyan that he would spend his life with her alone.

Han Miaoyan gradually fell for his devotion, and eventually agreed to marry him.

After the wedding, Cheng Xu's official career advanced step by step with her father's help. He and Han Miaoyan were deeply in love, a perfect couple envied by every woman in the capital.

Han Miaoyan thought so too. So even though her husband suffered from a strange condition that made him sleepwalk, she was always understanding. Until one time, after Cheng Xu got drunk, his condition struck again.

In a daze, he began reciting the poem "Quiet Night Thoughts," which he had once composed in front of Han Miaoyan.

But when Han Miaoyan watched her husband fall asleep after reciting the poem, she was puzzled.

Who were Tang and Li Bai?

Later, Han Miaoyan gradually discovered that her husband came from another world. The brilliant poems she had thought he wrote, and the ingenious inventions she thought he came up with, had all actually originated with the poets and geniuses of that world.

Even Cheng Xu's promise to spend his life with her alone was nothing but an empty lie. In that other world, he already had a fiancée who was his perfect match.

Every time she thought Cheng Xu's strange condition had struck, his soul had actually returned to that world to be with his fiancée.
