This story is full of: flirtatious testing | bittersweet push and pull | rekindled love | love and hate | cold-faced flirtation
Ran Xiyang has decided to change her life. Her new job is to assist You Qili and protect the delicate young lady who can't fend for herself.
Looking at the job offer, Ran Xiyang thinks this will be much more relaxing than her previous work.
They first meet at the funeral of You Qili's mother. Wearing a black dress, You Qili accepts the condolences of those around her. Ran Xiyang only approaches after the service, handing over her resume with both hands. "President You, I'm Ran Xiyang, hired by the chairman. From now on, I'll be assisting you with your work..." She glances at You Qili, whose face is streaked with tears, and adds quietly, "And protecting your safety."
You Qili glances at the resume, then looks Ran Xiyang up and down with interest. Suddenly, she furrows her brow and collapses into Ran Xiyang's arms as if all her strength has left her. In a weak voice, she says, "I'm so tired. Help me to the car so I can rest."
Holding You Qili's weak, limp arms, Ran Xiyang thinks: So she really is the sheltered young lady I imagined.
Her mother spent her whole life building a career, neglecting to raise her along the way. For years, mother and daughter barely spoke on the phone. The last time they spoke, her mother ordered You Qili to return to the country immediately.
You Qili spins the gun in her hand around her finger, quickly removes the magazine, and reluctantly agrees.
When she first sees Ran Xiyang, she notices her serious expression and remembers their encounter abroad. A sudden urge to tease her takes hold, and You Qili lets tears fall as she collapses into her arms.
She says she's timid.
She says she's afraid of the dark.
She says she's never known what it feels like to be loved.
And yet, the other woman believes every one of these half-true lies.
Theme: Unite and build a better future together.
"The callus on the pad of the index finger of my right hand..." Gave the author a big bug ~
Not bad, the part about making hatred is very touching.
