Wu Luozi has had it good in every life.
In her previous life, she was not only a talented scholar and fighter, but also the daughter of the richest family. At a young age, she made it onto the wealth rankings.
She wakes up one day having transmigrated, but finds herself the only daughter of the empress. As the sole princess of the empire, she is spoiled and willful, yet adored by everyone.
One day, the sky screen suddenly begins singing Wu Luozi's praises:
[Hello, everyone! Last time, we talked about how Emperor Wanshen turned the tide and saved the dynasty. Today, let's talk about the delightful exploits of her granddaughter, Emperor Zhengtian.]
[As the first empress whose fame has endured through the ages, Emperor Zhengtian is practically the perfect template for a wish-fulfillment story. She's not only charming and carefree, but also achieves many great things for the good of her country and its people. That's why everyone is rushing to adapt The Zhengtian Emperor...]
Wu Luozi: It's over. Now everyone knows how good I've got it.
The male officials hear the sky screen and feel the pressure mounting. They join together to submit petitions condemning Wu Luozi's behavior.
Male official: "Your Majesty, the sky screen says the Princess Royal even makes men kneel to wash her feet. This is an insult to human dignity. Please reprimand her severely!"
Wu Luozi: "Mother Empress, I don't understand what they're talking about. Why not invite Zou Zhangzhen to my princess's residence tomorrow as my male consort? Then he can point out any mistakes in time."
The empress: "Approved."
Male official: "The Princess Royal has lost her chastity, encouraging all the women in the realm to follow her example and corrupting the customs of our Great Ling!"
The empress: "Since the men of Great Ling care so much about things women don't want, from today onward, the men shall uphold the virtuous reputation of 'never leaving the inner quarters.'"
Wu Luozi asks Emperor Anming, "Mother Empress, aren't you afraid these men will be driven to revolt by the oppression?"
Emperor Anming strokes Wu Luozi's head. "Silly child. The military power is in women's hands. When the women of the realm stand united, the men will have no choice but to turn their attention to themselves."
