Jiang Xun makes a nest for his kitty, brushes its fur, carves it a collar, then cuddles it for warmth as they fall asleep.

But he doesn't know that every night, his beloved kitty turns back into a human, tracing the sleeping young man's features inch by inch with his fingertips and secretly kissing Jiang Xun's hair and fingertips.

The first time they meet face to face as humans, they are forced apart.

A year later, a miraculous Guide appears on the black market. He can guide Sentinels of any rank, yet never accepts mental compensation from any of them.

Meanwhile, one of the Federation's Twin Stars, who should have died, appears in the news in vigorous health, broadcasting a strange missing-person notice across the entire interstellar realm:

On the day they reunite, Jiang Xun pins Lu Yanli against the back of a busy doorway and throws the collar he's carried with him all this time at his feet.

"You pretended to be a cat and fooled me? Didn't you lose your collar? Put it on and crawl over here."

Lu Yanli's Adam's apple bobs. He takes Jiang Xun's fingertip in his mouth, wraps his tail around his ankle, and meows. "Meow."

"Sentinel End-of-Life Care Guidelines, Rule Two: Never secretly turn human in your owner's arms."

Reader's Guide:

1. A laid-back, gentle, possessive cat-dad Guide gong who only acts that way toward his beloved, versus a cool on the outside, devoted and clingy cat-like Sentinel shou who longs to belong.

Note: Because of childhood deprivation, both characters have some particular preferences. The gong is possessive of things he considers his, with a slight tendency to control.

The shou longs to belong and enjoys being possessed, with a slight pain kink and a slight dependence on props, but only items given to him by the gong.

These elements are very mild and stem from childhood deprivation, and are needed for the plot! At heart, this is a sweet story about mutual pampering and raising a kitty!

2. This story may not suit readers with extreme character preferences! Their feelings develop at different times, and their dynamic and preferences differ, but they are always equals in love!

I don't belong to any circles, don't know the ins and outs of content warnings, and don't take sides. I simply write the kind of love I believe in. Readers are free to feel as they wish, and I ask that you respect others' different opinions too.

3. For objective reasons, the shou remains in cat form at first and cannot return to human form or speak. He will gradually recover as his mental state improves.

4. Sentinel and Guide setting, with some original worldbuilding:

When Guides guide Sentinels' mental energy at high intensity or frequency, they cannot replenish their own mental energy simply with the passage of time. This results in varying degrees of mental depletion, which can only be alleviated through mental compensation from a Sentinel. Such compensation usually consists of various forms of pleasure a Guide experiences mentally, and can quickly and effectively restore the Guide's mental energy.

When the general assault horn sounds behind him, Lin Zechuan, the first Guide in the world, finally smiles again. Amid deafening explosions, he slowly closes his eyes.

He had already prepared to sleep forever in this strange world, but opens his eyes again on a border planet.

What? It's three hundred years later?

Humanity has driven away the alien races and established an alliance?

Fine, he can accept all that, but could someone give him back the abilities he worked so hard to obtain?!

Lin Zechuan has only just woken up and hasn't figured out what's going on when he's swept up in the border war.

He wants to lead the refugees to survive, but runs into the craziest stray dog in the interstellar war zone.

But this madman named Axel is so reckless that even his enemy can't stand to watch:

He uses himself as bait when blowing up warships, and dares to block the claws of alien beasts with his own body during extermination missions.

"You suicidal lunatic!" He knocks the detonator from the Sentinel's hand.

But Axel twists his wrist behind his back and pins him in the ruins, his blood-scented breath hot against Lin Zechuan's ear.

"Mind your own business! Want to control me? Beat me first."

They tear at each other in the ruins, blood soaking the broken walls;

They face off by the warship's hatch, grappling until they crash through a porthole;

Then, in battle, Lin Zechuan regains his lost abilities, and a massive mental storm ensnares Axel.

Later, Lin Zechuan realizes that a certain someone keeps showing up beside him more and more often, and getting injured more and more frequently.

Lin Zechuan grips Axel's bloodied waist, and his Guide pheromones slip involuntarily beneath the Sentinel's torn clothes.

"I just want to save you, not sleep with you!"

But Axel licks the blood from his knuckles, then shoves him into the cockpit of a mecha, pins him there, and bites into the side of his neck, panting with a smile.

"You said you wanted to save me. Why not see it through?"

To keep this madman from losing control and degenerating, Lin Zechuan sets all sorts of rules. Axel must follow them properly if he wants to receive guidance.

And so, the wounds covering Axel's body become secret marks beneath his clothes, while the unruly mad dog is leashed by reason.

After each treatment, the sated Sentinel still licks his canine tooth and demands compensation, crashing into Lin Zechuan's arms.

"Let me see how many rounds Commander Lin can last today."

Everyone says the new leader of the Resistance and the Alliance's mad dog are like fire and water.

But no one knows that in the command room late at night, one of the military's two most decorated stars is on one knee, unfastening the new leader's belt with his teeth.

"I accidentally wrecked the training ground again today..."

"Commander, what's my punishment today?"
