Forensic pathologist x police detective
Fu Li x Mo Hai
Gentle and refined (dark, unhinged) top x a sharp-tongued but soft-hearted bottom

Eight years ago, Mo Hai was a rookie in the Major Crimes Unit when he met Fu Li, who was still a forensic medicine student at the time, while working a case.
Back then, Fu Li could be said to have used his "talent" to bully those weaker than him. He spoke and acted according to his moods, so the first thing he said to Mo Hai was:
"Oh wow, nice proportions."
Hearing that teasing, flirtatious tone, and with his mentor and other people there, Mo Hai could only roll his eyes to himself and label the guy a "clown."
They met like that, spent a year bickering and messing around, and just when Mo Hai, who was new to romance, thought their relationship might somehow progress, the sky-cracking beginning finally came to an earth-shattering end.
A year together, seven years apart.
When they meet again, the person who's changed the most is Fu Li, who was the first to leave everything behind.
He did become a forensic pathologist, but his personality is completely different from before.
At least, the old Fu Li, who wore every mood on his face, would never have kept a polite smile fixed on his lips and nodded courteously to everyone.
"You're pretty different from how you used to be."
"Didn't you say it yourself? The past is the past, and the present is the present."
When they meet again, Fu Li's heart and his whole world hold only Mo Hai. Having been born in the abyss and grown accustomed to its darkness, he can only accept a world in which Mo Hai exists. But Mo Hai is different. His world has room for more than just Fu Li.
Still, Fu Li wants to be the only one for Mo Hai.
"Did you come back to torment me?"
"No. I came back for you, but even more, I came back for myself."
He reaches out to Mo Hai, but Mo Hai is trapped in place by his own fears.
Every time this happens, Fu Li sits up in the middle of the night, wishing he could slap his own stupid self from seven years ago.
"You should have said a proper goodbye back then! Then you wouldn't be in this situation now, with people avoiding you like the plague."
Note: 1. There's no overarching major case from beginning to end. The story moves forward through a series of individual cases.
2. Somewhat realistic, but with plenty of fictional liberties.
3. Age gap, with the top younger than the bottom.
4. A little coercive content, but nothing too heartbreaking. A healing story, and something of a rekindled romance.
