Here's an initial draft of the blurb. It's pretty rough, and I'll polish it before starting the novel. The content won't change.
The main story is told in third person.
[Resilient, kind-hearted ordinary woman x Cold, deranged immortal lord]
*
The year He Qian found me in a pile of corpses, snow buried half the city. In the end, we were the only two survivors left.
Unlike me, a commoner, he was the general's son.
After pleading with his father to no avail, he kissed me amid the cicadas' cries in early summer and promised to return and marry me once he had made a name for himself.
I sewed my wedding dress, waiting from the first snowfall until the new lotus leaves unfurled, year after year.
I never got to see my beloved again.
All that came was news of his death.
*
With a sword on my back, I traveled a thousand miles, walking every inch of the land he had traversed.
Everyone who knew him said he died on the eve of Great Yan's decisive victory, leaving no body behind.
I couldn't believe Heaven could be so cruel. And later, I did see him. In the rain, he held the umbrella I'd given him over the head of another woman, someone named Xue Ji.
When he looked at me, his expression was cold. He merely said, "Miss, you've mistaken me for someone else."
How could that be?
I pursued him for three whole years, from the mortal realm to the heavens. The immortals looked at me with mocking smiles.
"A lowly mortal, no better than an ant, dares dream of an immortal lord's affection?"
*
Of course an immortal lord would never show a mortal affection, if not for that one accident. When the love curse took hold in the secret realm, he bent down and kissed me, just as he had in early summer all those years ago.
When he woke, he got up and put on his clothes, his face ashen.
Unfortunately, the love curse struck once every ten days, leaving us fated to remain entangled.
Each time, he hurriedly undressed and got straight to it, his eyes calm and emotionless. When it was over, he left without a trace of reluctance.
The last time, I couldn't help calling him A Qian. He stopped and frowned. "If you call me that again, I won't come back."
But he didn't even give me the chance to speak again.
*
The day the seal was broken, a million demons and ghosts burst through the realm.
I ran toward the exit like a madwoman, but a hand dragged me back. In the end, a demon beast bit me to death.
He merely glanced at me indifferently, then left with his sword.
Later, I heard that when Xue Ji was kidnapped by the Ghost Lord, he flew into a rage, and the blood of demons stained the sky screen red.
Later still, word spread throughout the Three Realms of their grand wedding.
But there was also an unbelievable rumor that, at the very moment their marriage contract was to be sealed, he had stabbed his bride to death in front of everyone. The usually cool and elegant man had looked like a demon, proving his Dao by killing his wife before vanishing without a trace.
When all hope had drained from me, a voice filled with laughter sounded above my head, just like in my midnight dreams. The handsome, refined face of a young man appeared before me, a dark glint of blood flashing in his eyes.
"A Qing, how could I mistake you for someone else?"
