On hiatus, proceed with caution

Lin Liu remembers clearly how he went from Heaven's favored child to the great demon everyone wanted dead.
As the former chosen one, he built 108 towers of skulls with the tip of his spear. His heart for the Ruthless Dao shattered, and amid Heaven's howls, it revealed its rotten true face.
He sat atop a mountain of corpses, silently gazing upward, letting the rain pour down from the rust-colored sky and run across his face, washing the foul blood and mud into a murky mess.
Lin Liu laughed. He thought, This world is doomed.
But he'd be doomed before the world was...
As if. He hadn't lived long enough yet.
He deceived Heaven and was reborn a hundred years later. Everything unfolded just as it should, except for...
A strange outer disciple.
This outer disciple seemed to know a great deal, Lin Liu thought, as he considered how to kill him without raising suspicion.
But when the disciple revealed astonishing talent, Lin Liu changed his plans.
He needed Qin Mingcang.
But Qin Mingcang was far too wary of the identity "Lin Liu." In his eyes, "Lin Liu" was the demon who had caused the protagonist all his suffering, then pretended to save him while posing as his ideal love.
So Qin Mingcang found himself with a fellow countryman, Gu Yuefang.
Gu Yuefang was arrogant and unruly, yet always gave him a helpless smile. He took Qin Mingcang treasure hunting and taught him how to stay alive...
Gu Yuefang was Qin Mingcang's only connection to Earth, where he'd lived for twenty years. They were alike, and they shared a goal: save the protagonist and get home.
But the story didn't unfold as Qin Mingcang expected. The protagonist wasn't taken advantage of by his master, martial uncles, or senior brothers; the protagonist's senior and junior sisters didn't end up together; and none of those scenes that crossed the line of morality happened. That included the great villain who was supposed to become the protagonist's ideal love: Lin Liu.
Qin Mingcang thought it was all the butterfly effect, or that Gu Yuefang had done something behind the scenes. It didn't matter, though, because the outcome was good.
Until he let the protagonist, barely clinging to life, escape...
Gu Yuefang's face became his senior brother's, and restraints appeared on Qin Mingcang's hands and feet.
Qin Mingcang moved his ankles, bound in iron chains, his body trembling uncontrollably.
As an unknown fear spread through him, he also felt a little... excited.
Lin Liu looked with satisfaction at his "masterpiece." His bloodstained lips drew close to Qin Mingcang's ear. "What happens in chapter 103?"
Qin Mingcang's eyes were red at the corners, shimmering with tears. His voice shook. "The protagonist is tied up on the Immortal Execution Platform..."
Red silk ribbons slid over Qin Mingcang's pale body. His voice broke. "Senior Brother, this part isn't in the original..."
"It is now." Lin Liu gripped the back of his neck and chuckled. "Be good. Don't make a sound without my permission."
Only when Qin Mingcang finally saw Long Ancestor, so different from The Burning Heaven Venerable, did he understand that what he'd been reading was fanfiction, while he'd transmigrated into the original.
The years of twists and turns spent saving the protagonist had never been part of the story to begin with. But looking back on the journey, he realized fate had already been changed, and not just for the protagonist.

* They respect each other as people.
* It's all just a matter of bedroom fun. None of the protagonists are harmed in this story.
* A little bit of mutual salvation.
* Old Lin is invincible from the start; Little Qin grows stronger over time (he's very powerful! In the middle and later arcs, he gets amazing control and area-of-effect abilities).
* Not melodramatic... probably.
* No pregnancy or children, just the two lovers enjoying their world together.
