The Ming Dynasty Inspection Bureau's Slacking-Off Office

※ A lively, clever jinx VS a handsome county magistrate of pristine character

※ Street life + solving cases + comedy + everyday goings-on at an ancient county yamen

※ Grandfather Liu's chickens, Granny Wang's ducks, and Daming's slippery soles.

As an archer in the patrol division of Jiangning County's yamen, Ling Shanyue spends all year slacking off in creative ways, whether in the mountains and forests, by lakes and seas, or in the bustling streets and alleys.

Since she was born under an unlucky star, everyone avoids her. So she happily keeps to herself.

Who could have guessed the new county magistrate would want to downsize?

I really want to beat this damn official to death!

※ Since taking office in Jiangning County, Shang Jiuyuan has been utterly exhausted.

The patrol officer goes after rats with medicine, the chief clerk dances erotically, and the deputy magistrate's gatekeeper takes bribes without a second thought. From top to bottom, the county yamen is rife with chaos.

Things outside the yamen aren't any better.

One bizarre case follows another: six husbands found dead on Ruiniang Street, a wicked son murdering his mother in Cao Temple Town, a vengeful spirit haunting people to death, a water ghost coming ashore to find a substitute... Every case is enough to make your scalp crawl.

For Shang Jiuyuan, solving cases is important, of course, but one thing weighs even more heavily on his mind:

At noon today, when he was presiding over a case, why was the young archer temporarily assigned to wield the punishment baton looking so unhappy, with her brows and eyes drooping?

He decided to buy her roasted pears on Tangli Street after court. After all, many difficult cases required her quick wit. It definitely wasn't because he liked her. He was simply looking after a subordinate.

Yes, that settled it.

A little scene:

Ghost fires flickered and foxes cried in the mass grave. A weasel shrieked like a cat in heat, while the young archer Ling Shanyue lay atop a grave, dreaming.

Footsteps crunched through the branches and leaves, drawing closer and closer before finally stopping in front of the grave.
